Hello everyone-I need some help!! We are crusing this Thursday on the Wonder and flying in the night before. Currently we have a 2-BR Suite booked at the Residence Inn at Cape Canaveral. From what I have read it sounds like a lovely property. The only concern is I am paying $170 (AAA rate) and will not be arriving to Orlando until 7pm so with the drive to the port we won't arrive until at least 8:30pm. :confused3 I keep thinking it is alot of money to spend to barely be in a hotel room for 12-14 hours.

So tonight I was on the internet and went to the Marriott web-site:surfweb: , we are Silver Elite Members, and low and behold, the Marriott Village in Lake Buena Vista has reduced their rates significanty. The Fairfield $80/SpringHill Suites $89 and Courtyard $98(all include breakfast AAA/Mosesavers rate). This is where the confusion sets in....:headache:

Do we splurge and wake up acroos the street from the ship or save money, stay in another Marriott (which is also lovely) but drive in the morning?

Any opinions???

Thanks for your help!:grouphug:

My opinion - save the money! Stay at the cheaper place! Especially since you're going to be there such a short amount of time. After traveling, you'll just want a good hot shower and a nice bed to sleep in!

I second her - stay at the cheaper place! Even if you are early risers, you still can't get into the terminal until 10 a.m., and I don't think boarding begins until 11 or 11:30 a.m.

Make it easy on yourself - get into Orlando and stay there until the next morning - reason being? Well it will already be dark, you won't see much of anything on the drive over since its not really a scenic route and then you wake up over here and what??? just have breakfast at the hotel and still can't get to the port until its time to load? I realy think you already know what is best for you and your family and the extra monies can go toward something you may want to do while on the cruise.
Good luck

This place is new, great AAA prices, gets high marks from others who have stayed the night before, and is the closest to the port.

That's where we planning on staying - bunk beds for the kids make it attractive, as does a free breakfast.

ITA!
We'll be staying right near the airport at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. When we booked back in Apr. it was only $76/nt. AAA rate. That includes free airport shuttle & cont. breakfast. I think it's gone up since then but it got great reviews on Expedia.com and Tripadvisor.com. Good luck and have a great trip! :goodvibes

I vote for saving your money and spending the night in the Land of the Mouse....You could even use the money you save to have a fun dinner at Downtown Disney. There isn't much to do near the Port and there's just something about the Disney excitement in Orlando. Also, if you have any delays or luggage issues (I hope not), you won't feel pushed to get to your hotel at the Port. You'll have PLENTY of time to drive over the next morning and it'll be a nicer drive in the daylight.

Have a blessed cruise!

One thing we took into consideration was our travel time. We'll be traving for close to 9 hours to get to Florida and adding another drive after all that seemed too much so we'll be staying near the airport.

And there are at least 6 hotels just off the airport property, plus the hotel in the airport to consider. Our flight didn't get in until 11 pm, we didn't get into our room until after midnight, and were back on our way to the airport to catch the Disney bus by 9:15, so our time at the hotel was more of a nap than a sleep. Because I worked overnight before flying out, and since I can't sleep on a plane, I was up 36 straight hours by the time my head hit the pillow in Orlando. And I slept like a rock my first night on the Magic.

im arriving the friday before my cruise next week! And we are staying at the HYATT right in the airport!
I have only heard good things so far about it so im happy!!
