My DSIL and I both have 150 points and are planning a week vacation with family members next summer. We would like to get 3 studios to house the 10 of us going. My question is, both of us can get a studio and then we would need to combine both our remaining points to get the 3rd studio. Is this allowed? If not is there some way to do this? The studios would be 96 pts. each for the 6 days, so both of us would have 54 points left. Any help would be great, we wont need to make our ressie until Sept.

I am new to this myself but if I am not mistaken one of yu can transfer points into the other ones account.

You could transfer but it can be done without by simply linking the reservations. My sister and I did it for New Year's a year ago. It's easiest to do the reservation together. When you first call MS explain to them what you are doing. The second person can give MS his/her member number and complete the reservation after the first person does her's/his. You will each get two confirmation sheets but it should be linked. If it can be done successfully for New Year's, it can be done at any time without having to worry about moving around.

MargaretIllinois is correct. One way to do this (and it's probably the easiest way) is for one of you to transfer the needed number of points into the other's account. The two of you can call MS together to arrange the transfer - it's a relatively easy thing to do.

Be sure the points you want to transfer are current year points and that they will be valid for the time (and resort) for which you want to make the reservation. In fact, if I were you, I'd call MS ahead of time and ask their advice on exactly which points to use for what (reservation vs transfer) and when to make the transfer.

If you have to use banked or borrowed points, it will be a little more complicated. Keep in mind that you cannot transfer borrowed or banked points, but you can bank or borrow transferred points. Don't wait until the 11 month window opens to transfer points if you choose to go that route.

Another option is for each of you to reserve whole nights for the third studio and then have MS link the two reservations. One would reserve 4 nights and the other 3 nights. You cannot use points from more than one account to reserve a single night.

Best wishes -

We spilt with stays with our DSIL every year but have never transfered points (which I think you can do also). We usually just keep track who used extra points each year, in your case one of use either would get 3 studios for 3 nights and the other 3 studios for 2 nights and ty them to together, or each get 1 studio for a week and then one gets 3 nights in the extra studio and the other gets the last 2 nights in the extra studio. Actually its to the point where we get "this year" and you get "next year" etc. Try to get a 2br or 1br worked in through borrowing if possible to get the kitchen to meet for meals and the washer and dryer if at all possible-well worth it (especially the 2BR). Have fun.

I did a trip in June 2004 where our friends had an OKW 1BR reserved already, so we called to request a studio lock-off next to their room. We each used our own points and DVC made it happen. This way we had the full kitchen at our disposal, too. So perhaps your group of 10 could do the same, getting one 1BR, 1 lock-off Studio, and another studio. It could make your stay more comfortable if you need to cook meals in the room.

Here's what I'd so. I'd book one studio from each contract. Then I'd work out the most equitable split of points and book part of the third studio with one contract and the remainder with the other contract and link them. If you must make it exactly even, transfer just the extra points from one contract to another. If the home resorts and use years are the same it's very simple regardless, if they are different, it can get very complicated and you need to ask more about transfers so you avoid some common but not obvious mistakes.

Also consider what happens if somone cancells out. Good luck.
