"We want the redhead."

My only point about bringing up Brazil is that most other countries are not nearly as paranoid about swimwear as Americans. The OP is from Miami and should already realize that a skimpy bikini is not appropriate from an activity standpoint. I just wish as Americans we could learn to be more accepting of other cultures. While laying on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro a few months ago there were several Americans around us. They were rude and loud and kept commenting on the Brazilians. I was shocked and appalled that they thought the Brazilians were out of line for wearing skimpy bikinis! I have never been so embaressed for my country. Even in foreign countries many Americans think everyone should conform to their way of thinking/doing things.tlbwriter said:When in Rome, do as the Romans do. What's the big deal about that? If I were in Brazil I'd expect people to dress as the Brazlians do. WDW is not in Brazil. Why assume people would get freaked out about seeing thongs in Brazil just because they don't expect to see thongs at Disneyworld?
And my response to the OP... if you have to ask, I think you already know the answer. Personally, I couldn't care less, but obviously some people will. If you don't want to offend anyone, wear a suit with more coverage. If you want some attention, let it all hang out.
Not everyone who wears a skimpy bathing suit is there to gather stares. Most European women wear bathing suits that as Americans we find much too revealing. They are just wearing exactly what they would wear at home. You will see mothers holding small children, who are definitly not out to gather attention.hugsquared said:And since I'm on this soapbox...I beg to disagree with whomever eluded to the suggestion that people wearing a thong to a family water park was not there to "flash" us...come on, please. Why would you go dressed like that if not to gather stares, some people really do seek the attention-good or bad.

And I don't think Disney's about showing off like that.
I mean, honey, wait until night falls and you can go shake your moneymaker at a club or something, because all you're doing is making the rest of us share in your need for attention.
And, (sigh) I'm just better looking than you even fully dressed, so give it up.

I have a VERY hard time believing that they aren't at all trying to get at least a tiny bit of attention on them. No matter where a person is from, people will dress in certain ways that will get them noticed. Whether it's a job interview, out to a nice dinner...or even a water park. If they truly didn't care about how they looked, people would dress as slobs. But they don't most of the time. Instead, they go to get the nicest dress they can find, the "cutest" bikini, etc. It's why people compare themselves to each other....or even why people post on this thread with this need to share their opinion. Why? Because people like to know that someone is giving them attention.prncess674 said:Not everyone who wears a skimpy bathing suit is there to gather stares. Location has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not a person is even in the slightest bit trying to get attention. It may come as a shocker, but even people in Miami are trying to get attention. And for the record, yes I have been to Miami. And to a Miami beach (during a very busy time when the beach was FILLED with people, primarily college age students and a small bit older where you'd think many of them would be dressing less). And no, I wasn't in the minority (much to the contrary of this "most everyone" song some posters keep singing). Not everyone feels a need to show off their rear ends.MKLvr said:I am going to wager a guess that you've never been to Miami.
If you have, you'd understand perfectly why this question was asked. Honestly...you're in the minority there if you don't wear a thong.
