Hi there! Just wondering if it's allowed to take video while riding some of my favorite rides... like Peter Pan or It's a Small World?? Just thought it might be fun to look at the video later.

Yes, on MOST rides, but not all. There will be an announcement on rides where it is not allowed, like on Tower of Terror or Soarin' over California for example.

Although if you go to Youtube, you will see that a lot of people have disregarded the warnings...

Not endorsing it,, just saying that people will still tape rides even if they not allowed too.

Yes, you can (with some exceptions), but I will beg you to please, Please, PLEASE!!! do NOT use your camera's video light source to light areas on dark rides.

On our recent trip, we were blessed to find most people not using their flash or the bright external light on their video cameras, but there was one person on PotC that decided to highlight the entire ride with the video cam external light that was piercing white and ruined the ambiance of the ride. Several of us asked him to turn the light off and he refused.

I hope his video will pick up the rather colorful language I and others were using to describe him.

We saw one person who didn't have their bright light source turned on but they had a very bright little red dot on their video. It's amazing how distracting one little light can be in a dark ride.

I think its rude for someone to use their iPad to record the video. We can see that bright huge screen and its distracting.

This started to happen to us last week. I nicely said something to the man and although he didn't seem too happy he put it away without being rude (thankfully!). The lady behind us whispered her thanks to me.

It's not only distracting and annoying, but also can be a medical hazard for some people. I've had migraines triggered by people aiming their flash or their video cameras in my face on dark rides. People on other boards have reported the same problem. So for all those people out there reading this, PLEASE pay attention to the ride announcements ("No flash photography, please") on dark rides and put away the cameras, iPads, cell phone cameras, etc. Thank you!

No, I will take pictures (as they are not saying pictures are not allowed), but without the flash or video lighting. It is not only rude to use the flash or video lighting during the dark rides, it also causes the pictures to not come out properly.

I agree with the above - so annoying to a video screen going the whole time on the ride. I also don't really get it. You can find better quality pictures and videos online. Why miss out on the experience of the ride by looking through a camera the whole time?

I do wish disney had a way for guests to purchase a dvd of the attractions they want and then pay accordingly. You could buy the whole park or just your favorites. I believe they do (or did) have something like that with their music/songs.

Of course some people would still tape their own since they won't pay extra but personally I would prefer a professionally done dvd where I could choose the ones I wanted. I'd be happy to pay for that. We just got back from a trip there and don't know if we will be able to go again and I kept thinking they should offer this product.

I like this idea too. The video and audio quality would be immensely better and that frees riders up to actually put the camcorders or cameras away and ENJOY the ride! Maybe have files available for purchase/download at their music store (send to a phone or email address) or on a Disney website. I'd love to have Peter Pan. :)

Exactly!!! :thumbsup2

I can see how you may want some video clips of friends and family during the rides, and this can be done respectfully, but otherwise, sit back, enjoy the ride, and later, download some high quality video from the internet.

This only works if you actually know how to turn off your flash! I've encountered many people who have no idea how to do this or they've never bothered to learn what settings to use in the dark, so they just continue blinding people and ignoring the annoyance/pain they cause others. No one is perfect, and even the best photographer may accidently let loose with the flash on occasion, but a little consideration for others sure would make the happiest place on earth a lot happier.

One of those is me. Ya, it seriously sucked to have a migraine at DL. :( I will just agree and say please listen and please learn how to turn off your flash before you use your camera at DLR!!

I have zero problems with anyone taking pictures, just please figure out how to use the flash and turn it off. And please listen to the audio at the beginning of the ride(s) so you know the rules. :)

So true.

And if you have the right DVDs of POTC 1 and 2 (or 3?) then in the special features you've got ride video of that original ride and then after they put Jack into it. Extra bonus of the second one? You get to ride along with Johnny Depp. :)

I totally agree with the requests to not use flash. I rode POTC this past summer with someone who decided to take pictures with his huge professional camera with bright flash and giant lens throughout the entire ride. So annoying! I have ridden this a million times and it was frustrating enough. I hope it was no one's first ride. Personally, I don't like taking pictures. I feel like it takes away from the experience if you are concentrating on that.

There are also people, like my friend with visual disabilities, who have slow adjustment times going from light to dark, or dark to light. So if we go from daylight into a dark ride, it might take the first 5 minutes inside for her to even be able to see. We'll try to step aside and let enough people go by us to let her eyes adjust. She might wear dark sunglasses on a bright day to speed it up a little. Point is, she has to go out of her way to adjust to seeing in the dark.

Then we get inside, get on a ride, and someone takes a flash picture. And she can't see for the rest of the ride. Last trip, on It's a Small World, someone was using the light on their video camera, and she nicely explained to them why it was ruining her experience. They looked at her like she was lying, but did turn the light off.

Honestly, she should not have to ask, beg or explain when it's common courtesy, as well as the instructions on many rides.
