If a fd pin comes out for Nov for my trip, we will book for the qs and probably go ahead and upgrade to regular dining plan when we book. If I get a bonus at work later this year, we want to upgrade to dxdp. So, can I upgrade to dx plan onsite without losing the fd? I have heard other dissers say that when they change their reservations after the PIN expires, they lost the deal. So someone please tell me if I will be able to do this? I assume that our plan will just show we have the dining plan, not how much we paid for it, s they should be able to upgrade us to dx for the difference between dx and regular. Thanks for the help!!

I'm pretty sure no. I think the dining plan has to be added/upgraded at least several days before your arrival. I think you should be able to upgrade the dining even after the pin expires though, you just would have to already have the free dining booked.

No. I know it has to be upgraded before you arrive. I'm trying to remember the amount of days and I think it has to be done 5 days prior to arrival.

that if you are going to do the DxDP, you will need to have your dining reservations squared away before arrival. Months in advance to be more precise! You will need to make a decision on this well before check-in.

Make your adrs 180 days out or ASAP.

you can upgrade up to 72 hours in advance but I would recommend doing it about a week so nothing happens- you will have to pay for the upgrade then.

OK, so when I pay to upgrade (at least 7 days prior, but hopefully MUCH sooner so I can make adrs), it will be just the difference in cost between reg dp and ddx, regardless of whether or not my pin has expired, correct???? (We are for sure upgrading to regular at time of booking)

OR if we go ahead and book the upgrade to ddx, will we be allowed to go back to regular (and get a discount) later?

I just want to make sure whatever we do, we don't lose whatever discount we book under when we make changes (assuming there will be a new one :goodvibes)

Yes, it would be the difference between Reg and DLX. I would recommend booking the Reg and upgrading if you are able to. If you book the DLX and need to downgrade it would need to be done 45 days in advance or you will be charged a $50 fee. You can also make your ressies planning on doing the DLX plan and if you find out later that you can't upgrade, you can cancel the ressies that you don't want anymore.
