Can i use designs on ribbed tanks

Can I use the Iron on with ribbed tanks or should I find tshirt style tanks? This is my first time using them so I am not sure if it will work or not? Has anyone tried it before? I have the Amy Mickey iron on paper and it is for a small-med sized 12 year old. What do ya think? Can I do it?

I don't think it will work. Ribbed tanks are meant to stretch and iron ons aren't meant to stretch. Also, you need a nice flat surface for them to adhere to. I would stick to a simple flat material. I love Amy Mickey's transfers but be careful with red t-shirts (my iron was too hot and the red bled through) and 100% cotton worked best with them for me.

That's Exactly what I needed to know. 100% Cotton...got it. To KMart, Target, old navy, and beyond.... Until I can find some. Any suggestions?

My son was 2 when we went so I shopped in the toddler section at Wal-mart and their 100% t-shirts worked great. Unfortunately they would be too small for your 12 year old. Don't forget to prewash the t-shirts.

For my 5 year old son this last trip, I got the Target Cherokee shirts and they worked great. For my older ones I got them at Michael's and those turned out great. Just remember to prewash before ironing on the transfers. I believe Michael's has the shirts on sale for $2 thru Sat.

I spent last weekend making shirts for our upcoming vacation using Amy's paper and YES it worked wonderfully on ribbed tanks from walmart. I bought my girls ribbed tanks for cheap there and thought--what the crap--i'll try it and it worked wonderfully. It went on very smooth--I couldn't tell any difference in the result from my ribbed tank vs. the result from the regular t's I did. I followed her directions to the letter and had no problems whatsoever!! HTH Amanda
