Can I Survive another 11 days in WDW w/ Disney-Resistant Husband? *11/25 SURPRISE!!**

What else can I say besides THANK YOU!!! Although we were born down east we were only there until I was 2 and my sis was 3! I think it's the most beautiful part of Canada...the east coast is always in our hearts! What a great summer you had....thanks again for sharing it with us:hug:

What a fantastic summer! Everytime you post pictures from 'home' it makes me want to visit Canada - such a beautiful place, someday we'll get up your way :thumbsup2

Wow, your summer was very full indeed! Thanks for sharing your photos and uodate; yours are my favourite TRs to read and I am eager to hear how your family enjoys a fall trip. I am coming up on trip #8 in just a few weeks, but my very first trip ever with a child ~ our soon-to-be 6 year old niece, accompanied by her mom and dad and two grandmothers, who are all first-time visitors. Seven nights at WL from Nov 27th to Dec 4th, then 2 extra nights at the Yacht Club for just hubby and I (to help us unwind once our family departs). I can't wait to see the parks and hotels decked out in full for the holidays.

Meanwhile, have a wonderful trip with your family and friends and know that all your updates are much appreciated.

P.S. I also went to see The Lion King went it opened Friday night. I went solo to the late show and was pleasantly surprised at how full the theatre was, and with such an enthusiastic crowd...who also applauded at the end. It gave me "Disney chills" and made me that much more excited to get back to the world, where people like us belong :yay:

Wowza, Trish! What a great summer, jam-packed with fun!! Next summer, I am coming up for a visit! ;)

Your family is beautiful and the surrounding country looks gorgeous! I am a bit fascinated with the royals and specifically, Princess Kate. Doesn't she just seem like someone you'd want to be friends with? So cool your friend got to meet them.

Your trip is so close!!! :yay: How is Chris feeling about the trip? ReLly hoping that the race and having your friends along make for a super magical trip enjoyed by all. :goodvibes

Hey Christine...I completely agree with you. Kate and Wil have definitely brought a fresh, modern vibe back to the monarchy. And they really seem great together.

And yes, the trip really is getting close, and we are all getting excited about it! Even Chris!:rotfl:

Great images of your summer, Trish. I love living vicariously through other people's pictures and imaging what their day was like when they took the picture and I can just picture you and your family at PEI.

And yes....I think you've just added another destination to my bucket list. I've been across to Quebec City, Montreal and Toronto in that side of the world. I've been wanted to go back to Quebec....now I'll just have to add Nova Scotia and PEI to that trip. Someday. :goodvibes

If you ever get the chance, spending a couple days in PEI would be a great addition to your Canadian touring!:) Sounds like you are already well-versed though, especially for someone from Australia!:worship:

I'm totally envious of your fabulous summer!!! :rotfl:

Amanda

Thanks Amanda. It went by too quickly though!

What a GREAT summer you had! I am :rotfl: at all of you dressed up as Anne. That's a riot!

Thanks Cynthia!

What an awesome summer! PEI looks beautiful! Definitely a place worth looking into.

Yes, PEI is a great summer destination! Hopefully you can get there one day.:)

Your summer sounds absolutely fabulous and you have certainly rekindled my desire to visit Nova Scotia and PEI. Honestly, I always thought PEI seemed too far to drive, but perhaps its doable.

I will be back later to see all your pictures. I can only see the ones of Will and Kate and they are lovely, although Kate is much too skinny IMHO. ;)

Can't wait to see the rest!

Funny your comment about Kate. Andrea, who is quite thin herself mentioned that in person she is even more tiny than she appears in photos and tv.

What a great Summer full of wonderful experiences. Your kids will grow up with wonderful memories of their childhood, I am sure.

Q

You guys had an amazing summer. Really loved the PEI updates.....that is some place that I absolutely have to go some day.

Can't believe how close your trip is getting. You must be getting so excited!

Definitely put PEI on the "bucket list". Really great place. :)

And yes....at this point I am absolutely crawling out of my skin with excitement for the trip!

What an amazing summer to look back on! The photo of your entire family dressed as Anne of Green Gables is priceless!!

Yes, it was pretty funny, wasn't it? :rotfl:

Hi Trish,
I guess you must wonder what happened to me...well I am here just very, very far behind. The last installment I read was somewhere in the middle of your DestinationD conference. So I have sat here this morning and read and read and now I am finally all caught up! Whew! You have been a busy lady.

Your summer looks wonderful...I would love to visit PEI one of these days...it looks so beautiful and I am assuming much cooler than here. It has been a super hot and humid summer here in GA. I am thankful that we have had some cooler days lately. Your pictures of your family and the scenery are fantastic - thanks so much for sharing with us.

I won't/can't comment on it all but I have to comment of two things...First of all the GF. I agree that while it would not be my "resort of choice"; I would love to stay there for a few days and enjoy the grounds and atmosphere. It is certainly grand and beautiful and has so much to offer.

Second...you are so hard on yourself. However, I totally understand because I do the same thing...in my mind I am planning on doing a million things: exercise, clean this and that, plan this and that, cook this and that, ect... But then the day starts and what do I do sit here and read the DIS. :rotfl2: I know that basically I need to worry about taking care of myself more and less about the other stuff... Your family is so blessed to have such a sweet and beautiful wife and mother.

I will try and stay current...

Have a great day!
Darlene

Hi Darlene! So nice to hear from you! And thanks, as always, for your kind words.

Unfortunately I have accomplished next to nothing on my goals of diet/exercise and home organization in the lead-up to the trip. And I won't get any further before we go as from here til we leave next week I will be focused on cleaning up at work and taking care of all the trip preparation details. However, both will be a priority on my return, and hopefully I can count on all of you to keep me accountable when I return. I really want to close out 2011 on a high note, and move into 2012 feeling like I have made some great progress. :goodvibes

Wow - I so thoroughly enjoyed seeing the pictures of your summer. I feel like I just had a mini vacation!!!!! Absolutely fabulous. Thank you so much for posting! That is a part of the world I may never get a chance to see, but I certainly hope I will.

Thanks Mary Ellen. I also love reading about parts of the world that I have never been and getting ideas for future travel spots. I plan to lead a very active retirement with lots of travel! :rotfl:

Wow, what a great summer that you had! I especially like the horse show pictures. I've been a horse lover since childhood.

The picture of the family dressed Anne of Green Gables style was so funny. I've never read any of those books, I was into horse books & seldom read anything else when I was a girl.

We had a fairly busy summer, but nothing like your's. Since the kids are grown we no longer do the sports thing anymore. The kids used to play soccer & baseball.

Yes, those dress up photos were a fun thing to do...I still get a chuckle seeing the photos.

Nice reminder as well about how fast time flies...while all of the kids' activities certainly keep me busy, I have to remember to stay in the moment and appreciate the time we have with them now...before they get a bit older and start ditching us to hang out with their friends. :rotfl: Really looking forward to creating some special memories with them next week at Disney...those moments are always the highlight of every year for me. :goodvibes

There are so many special places in both Canada and the US. I would love to have the ability to take a year off and just go exploring!:goodvibes

Thank you so much for your kind words. How funny you went to see the Lion King the same nite I went with the kids. I bet if you had attended the 7pm show you would have seen us! ;) What a small world!!!

Sounds like you have a great trip lined up! :goodvibes I bet you'll love touring WDW for the 1st time with your niece. That said, I'll bet you will also have a newfound appreciation for the one-on-one adult time with just your DH after everyone else leaves. ;) Sounds like the perfect trip - the best of both worlds! ;)

What an amazing summer you have had!! :) Thanks for sharing it with us!

Thank you for reading along with it! :)

What a great Summer full of wonderful experiences. Your kids will grow up with wonderful memories of their childhood, I am sure.

Thank you!!! :goodvibes

One Week From Today....I'll Celebrating WDW's 40th at Magic Kingdom!!!

OK...I am officially jumping out of my skin right now. At this very moment, one week from today, I will be gathering with friends and family getting ready for "The Magic, The Memories, and You" Castle Show, followed by the special 40th Anniversary Wishes!!!

While I always get that pang of excitement in my chest in the countdown to any trip, for some reason my excitement level leading up to this trip is through the roof right now. For a couple of years now I was hoping to be able to be in WDW for the 40th Anniversary, and now, just one week from tonite, I will finally get my wish, and will be there, surrounded by friends and family. :goodvibes

I just can't wait!!! :yay:

Trip Preparations Update

Departure Day is getting so close now...and I am getting more and more nervous each day as I am very close to running out of time! :scared1:

This week I was away from Wednesday to Friday in PEI. This time though, the trip was for work, not pleasure, as I was speaking at a conference. That said, the trip itself was plenty enjoyable, with perhaps the highlight being a reception, dinner, and evening campfire by the sea.

We came onto the beach by travelling over a farmer's land which led to a cliff overlooking the beach.

Inside those tents, there were nicely decorated tables with seashell centerpieces and white wooden chairs...all atop the beautiful sandy beach.

The food (including freshly boiled lobster) was absolutely fabulous, prepared by a crew of award-winning chefs:

Even the port-a-potties were classy!

While I still have a million things to clean up at work next week before we leave, it is finally starting to hit home how close we are!

Just before I left for PEI, we received some Mickey Mail!

September2011025.jpg

Then, as if I needed another reminder of how close we are getting, the kids and I opened yet another ring on our Countdown Calendar chain today! A couple weeks ago, we hosted Bryn & Devin for a sleepover, and made countdown calendars to get everyone excited for the final month countdown leading up to the trip.

I kicked things off with one of our favorite Disney videos...

September2011004.jpg

...and then we got down to work. I had printed off countdown labels for each day's chain:

Here are the kiddos with their finished products:

How exciting! I hadn't realized that your trip was so soon. It seems like you have just started writing the PTR.

Have lots of fun & we will be waiting for your TR when you get back! Best wishes for a great time for all the family including Chris!

I can't believe your trip is already here! Have so much fun. I love those facts! I can't wait to read your trip report!

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party....and my Costume Dilemma....

Without a doubt, the best event I have ever attended in the Parks is the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. It is one of the things I am most looking forward to on this trip, and that is really saying something because there is SO MUCH I am looking forward to on this trip in particular! :)

This will be my 4th Halloween Party, and of course, we are all going in costume. I actually think costumes should be mandatory, but that's just me. ;)

I have been going back and forth for months now about what to wear for costumes. The 4 of us are definitely going as a theme, and will be something Disney-related, but I am still trying to decide....Time is running out since I have to place our costume orders this weekend.

The final 2 contenders are Star Wars, or Haunted Mansion Ghosts.

Any comments/suggestions/thoughts to help me make my decision???? :confused3

I know...we are scary close now! I hope to have a couple of "quick-snapper" updates tonite and tomorrow on the final countdown and trip preparations, and will probably be throwing up some quick updates next week in our final days leading up to the trip! :)

I can't believe your trip is already here! Have so much fun. I love those facts! I can't wait to read your trip report!

How was your trip Andrea????

And yes...I loved those facts too, and writing them all up. I am not sure who has enjoyed the calendar more - me or the kids! :rotfl:

It was amazing! I will be writing a TR in the next couple of weeks! It was so much fun and it was the first "relaxing vacation" we have ever taken!

Be sure to let me know once you start it. I haven't been following many TRs or PTRs these days, but once I return from our trip it will be good to catch up with everyone to cure my post-trip Disney blues.;)

I love reading your TR's and PTR's! Just read the reluctant husband one (my DH isn't as much as a mouse junkie as I, but he does enjoy himself! even though he keeps pushing for non Disney vacations.... And I cringe! lol) and I'm so excited for all you to be going again! The weather in the south is great right now, yay! Just wondering which water park y'all will be going to? We have only done Blizzard Beach and love it! The donuts are a must to try :). Have fun!! PS - My vote is for the ghost costumes :goodvibes

1 week to go....1 week to go. Great countdown chain. And YAY for Mickey Mail.

Counting down with you. :thumbsup2

Another vote for the Haunted Mansion theme as well.

I have to remember to stay in the moment and appreciate the time we have with them now...before they get a bit older and start ditching us to hang out with their friends. :rotfl:

This will happen too! Friday night I took Justin and two of his friends to the high school football game. I was staying to watch the game too, meeting some friends of mine there. I barely got my car in park before those boys jumped out and took off, they couldn't even walk with me to entrance - goodness knows you don't want to be seen at a social event walking with a parent!

I love your countdown chain! We always have so much fun with those and it makes the days leading up to the trip so much more exciting!

I vote for the HM ghost theme as well for your costumes :thumbsup2

OMG! One week! Can't believe your trip is almost here, :yay: and I am so looking forward to a first-hand account of any 40th anniv activities!

From a pure thematic ( and geeky!) standpoint, I will dissent and vote for Star Wars. But think that HM might be a bit easier to pull off and still very cool! Can't wait for pictures!!

Have a great time, my friend! :goodvibes
