Can I Survive another 11 days in WDW w/ Disney-Resistant Husband? *11/25 SURPRISE!!**

It seems you've had a lovely summer. The fireplace the kids are standing next to is huge. I can only imagine sitting next to that on a cold night with a large mug of hot chocolate.

I really enjoyed your last trip report and I'm looking forward to your next one.

Gorgeous pictures!!!! Wow!

I need to take the kids to see Lion King. It'll be fun because they've never seen it!

(Continued from last post)

One of the evenings we were in PEI, Katie and I left the family back at the cottage and drove into Charlottetown to see the musical stage performance of Anne of Green Gables. We also signed up for the BackStage Theatre tour which took place before the play, and we actually ended up being the only ones on the tour!

It was a fun tour, and I was very glad we did it. We learned that Confederation Centre where the performance took place was opened in 1964 coinciding with a visit by Queen Elizabeth. Anne of Green Gables, the Musical has been running since 1965, and is Canada's longest-running stage show.

Once we got our backstage passes, we were off behind the scenes, and were also given a tour of the set.

And Katie sitting in the seat occupied by the Queen when she attended in 1964:

Our seats were in the row directly ahead of the Queen's seat - just a little off to the left-hand side. They were great seats for the show!

At the end of the tour, we even headed up to the balcony to see the view from there:

After the tour, Katie & I enjoyed a quick meal before the show and looked over one of the gifts given to us on the tour - a book about the show. We also received Anne of Green Gables pins - just like Disney! :rotfl:

We ate outside al fresco in a beautiful little courtyard in the middle of the theatre.

Dessert was ok.

We finished up just in time to enter the theatre for the performance. The play was very good, and the actors were great, but to be perfectly honest, I actually enjoyed the actors from Avonlea a little better. :)

The next day, we were off to do another amusement park - SandsPit. This park was really fun. Campy, and a bit cheesy, but fun.

We also visited Green Gables, a national park dedicated to the memory of Lucy Maud Montgomery and Anne of Green Gables.

The site is just beautiful, and has a ton of walking trails, including the mysterious wooded paths and infamous Lovers Lane made famous in the Anne of Green Gables books:

HI there I've been keeping up with you even though I don't post much.

We saw Lion King last night. DS 10 was complaining after it started saying he thought it was a new movie but before long he was laughing out loud. My dd 7 also really enjoyed it. So glad we took time out to see it.

Guess what I am doing today?? Planning a last minute trip to DW fron Sept 29- Oct 2. Going to squeeze in MNSSHP and Mk 40 birthday. DH can't come so it will just be me and the kids.

Maybe we will run into you somewhere.

Where are you staying again?

Looks like a great summer! PEI is a place I have to go one day. I love Anne of Green Gables. We booked a Canadian cruise for next year, but we are moving it 2013. We will have to meet up!

Other Activities

We were also kept busy all summer with soccor, with each of the kids playing 2 nights a week, as well as weekend tournaments.

The kids also paddled every day, and attended a number of regattas.

We also enjoyed lots of late summer nights, enjoying campfires, s'mores, and the company of friends at the firepit in our backyard.

All in all, it was a pretty fantatic Summer. I hope everyone else has some great summer memories to look back on as well as we head into Fall! :goodvibes

I really enjoyed your last trip report and I'm looking forward to your next one.

Chris & I were actually thinking the exact same thing when we were there - how wonderful it would be to be inside in front of one of those large fireplaces on a crisp, cool Fall day, sipping a cup of hot chocolate! :goodvibes

Thanks for your comments! :)

Gorgeous pictures!!!! Wow!

I need to take the kids to see Lion King. It'll be fun because they've never seen it!

Oh wow Amanda...are you ever in for a treat! Your kids haven't seen the Lion King yet...what a way to see it for the 1st time! :woohoo:

Glad you are still following along, and happy to hear your family also enjoyed the Lion King.

What a great time to go for a last-minute trip. There are so many things going on that weekend!:yay: We will be at the Beach Club from Sept.30- Oct.2nd, and then moving over to OKW from Oct.2-10th. Hopefully we will see you in the parks. Please say hi if you see us! :)

Looks like a great summer! PEI is a place I have to go one day. I love Anne of Green Gables. We booked a Canadian cruise for next year, but we are moving it 2013. We will have to meet up!

I guarantee you would love PEI. Just be sure to go in either July or August like I said! ;) And yes, by all means let me know when you might be crusing by...Halifax is a frequent stop for many of the ships sailing into Eastern Canada. Hopefully we can meet up again! :)

Wowza, Trish! What a great summer, jam-packed with fun!! Next summer, I am coming up for a visit! ;)

Your family is beautiful and the surrounding country looks gorgeous! I am a bit fascinated with the royals and specifically, Princess Kate. Doesn't she just seem like someone you'd want to be friends with? So cool your friend got to meet them.

Your trip is so close!!! :yay: How is Chris feeling about the trip? ReLly hoping that the race and having your friends along make for a super magical trip enjoyed by all. :goodvibes

Great images of your summer, Trish. I love living vicariously through other people's pictures and imaging what their day was like when they took the picture and I can just picture you and your family at PEI.

And yes....I think you've just added another destination to my bucket list. I've been across to Quebec City, Montreal and Toronto in that side of the world. I've been wanted to go back to Quebec....now I'll just have to add Nova Scotia and PEI to that trip. Someday. :goodvibes

You know...I think you are onto something with that "group of women" suggestion! ;) I would love to do that - especially at the chef's table! I think a certain someone we both know and love (ahem - Christine) might be doing just that next month. I can't wait to hear her reviews of it! :)

That is exactly the way to do it. I think too, if you were larger than 2 people (say 4 or more) you would be so engaged in your own conversation, not to notice the quiet. I've done a dinner more like the Chef's table with a large group of women (12 I think) and it was a ton of fun. I wouldn't have been happy though to have been in the main dining room for the price and time involved. I would do it on a girls trip, but not on a couple or family one I think.

What a GREAT summer you had! I am :rotfl: at all of you dressed up as Anne. That's a riot!

What an awesome summer! PEI looks beautiful! Definitely a place worth looking into.

Your summer sounds absolutely fabulous and you have certainly rekindled my desire to visit Nova Scotia and PEI. Honestly, I always thought PEI seemed too far to drive, but perhaps its doable.

I will be back later to see all your pictures. I can only see the ones of Will and Kate and they are lovely, although Kate is much too skinny IMHO. ;)

Can't wait to see the rest!

You guys had an amazing summer. Really loved the PEI updates.....that is some place that I absolutely have to go some day.

Can't believe how close your trip is getting. You must be getting so excited!

What an amazing summer to look back on! The photo of your entire family dressed as Anne of Green Gables is priceless!!

Hi Trish,
I guess you must wonder what happened to me...well I am here just very, very far behind. The last installment I read was somewhere in the middle of your DestinationD conference. So I have sat here this morning and read and read and now I am finally all caught up! Whew! You have been a busy lady.

Your summer looks wonderful...I would love to visit PEI one of these days...it looks so beautiful and I am assuming much cooler than here. It has been a super hot and humid summer here in GA. I am thankful that we have had some cooler days lately. Your pictures of your family and the scenery are fantastic - thanks so much for sharing with us.

I won't/can't comment on it all but I have to comment of two things...First of all the GF. I agree that while it would not be my "resort of choice"; I would love to stay there for a few days and enjoy the grounds and atmosphere. It is certainly grand and beautiful and has so much to offer.

Second...you are so hard on yourself. However, I totally understand because I do the same thing...in my mind I am planning on doing a million things: exercise, clean this and that, plan this and that, cook this and that, ect... But then the day starts and what do I do sit here and read the DIS. :rotfl2: I know that basically I need to worry about taking care of myself more and less about the other stuff... Your family is so blessed to have such a sweet and beautiful wife and mother.

I will try and stay current...

Have a great day!
Darlene

Wow - I so thoroughly enjoyed seeing the pictures of your summer. I feel like I just had a mini vacation!!!!! Absolutely fabulous. Thank you so much for posting! That is a part of the world I may never get a chance to see, but I certainly hope I will.

Wow, what a great summer that you had! I especially like the horse show pictures. I've been a horse lover since childhood.

The picture of the family dressed Anne of Green Gables style was so funny. I've never read any of those books, I was into horse books & seldom read anything else when I was a girl.

We had a fairly busy summer, but nothing like your's. Since the kids are grown we no longer do the sports thing anymore. The kids used to play soccer & baseball.
