Hi...I know there are lots of lovely members here who are well versed in the rules of DVC...Iam quite new to all this and want to make sure Iam doing the right thing in booking my 2008 dvc vacation....Heres what Iam doing.

I have 320 points...use year December...I borrowed points earler this yr..so I have 157 in my December 2007.

My vacation will run from Aug 24th to sept 6th....the weekend nights fri and sat will be spent off site.

i have called MS and booked a 1 bed at SSR for 24th to the 29th Aug...plus a studio for aug 31st to sept 2nd.

This means I have used 148 points and have 9 left in dec 2007.

As i have just extended my vacation to Sept 6th should I call Ms and book a SSR studio now for the extra dates...this will mean borrowing from my Dec 2008...will this become a problem.?

I must add that my master plan..;) ..is to swap resorts at 7 months...24th to 29th to a 1 bed at BCV and the rest to a studio at haven't decided yet:)

Will this be a pain....what happens when i call at 7 months day be day....Will Ms cancel each day then rebook using the same points for BC??

The problem is a 1 bed at BCV is more than a 1 bed at SSR...so when they cancel say the 24th aug at SSR it will free up say 20 points...but BCV could be say 23 points....where will the extra 3 points come from...I take it they will borrow them from 2008 and this will carry on each day??

i hope iam making sense...i just find the whole thing confusing...and am tempted to just stay at SSR the whole time to avoid this...:)

Am i doing this correct/.....what would you do if you were me??

I would be tempted to "forget" about booking at 11 months and try it day by day for BCV. That's because I think that SSR will be available at 7 months for "sure" and BCV "may" be available, and why bother with booking and rebooking?

PS. Yes, if you need more points to book each day, (doing it the way you suggest) MS can borrow them from your '08 points.

thanks Bobbi....This is what I was thinking...perhaps i should just cancel the ressies i have made at SSR and start afresh booking at 7 months.
My only concern is that at 7months i won't get a room anywhere...but i know this is very unlikely....what to do??....i'd feel strange having nothing booked till 7 months,...but it would make it easier to do the day by day thing....and if i can't get all my dates at BC then i could book SSR then?...

Another option...shall I keep my SSR booking till a few days before my 7 month window...call MS and see what availability is looking like at BCV and at SSR...if its looking good then cancel everything and start afresh at 7 months..?

I would wait before I borrowed any to end the ressie that I have now. Sept. is a long way away.

I want to have a "gals only" stay at OKW in March '09. I don't own at OKW, and I would have to borrow to book a stay at the 11 month mark in BWV, which would be my back up plan. So, I've decided not to book anything, just wait until 7 months out and take my chances. I don't want to borrow at 11 months for something that may be changed. For me, it is a question of booking for friends, although no one has ever backed out, I figure I still can wait and be safe.

I'm not at exper...but I've asked on the board, and I get the feel that OKW will be available at 7 months out for me. I am not sure that BCV will be open for you, but since your other choice is SSR, I think that will be open and so, I would wait.

Best wishes!!!
