okay, first off let me tell you I am pregnant with twins due in April. I am HUGE already. LOL! I am also a SAHM used to comfy clothes.

My dh works for an international company and when they do christmas parties its usually for the team you are on...in his case, the state of New York. His boss is having a party for the team in a few weeks at his house. He's stating semi-formal on the invitations, it will be catered but still at his own home.

I have a black stretch-velvet maternity dress that is very pretty that I got for a wedding we went to last month. It was great, except that I now realize I just HATE wearing pantyhose while pregnant. blech! Also, I wore only 2 inch heels and by the end of the night my feet were completely swollen. So even though the dress itself is comfortable, I ended up not being so.

I also have a nice pair of black maternity pants, brand new so still very nice and no fading. They aren't silk or anything like that, but they are a nice cut and true black. I also have a very pretty red shirt, 3/4 sleeve empire waist with a red satin thin band running around the empire waist. Very very pretty, and can look sort of dressy depending on what its paired with. I figure with some pretty jewelry and the right (low heeled) shoes the outfit should look pretty nice.

my question is, do you think I can get away with wearing the pants and shirt? Or do you think I really need to wear the dress? I mean, its not a huge group that will be there and they are all understanding that I am pg and all.

I think the pants and shirt sound fine. After all being comfortable
is in MO the top priority.

Go and have a good time. :D

You should wear what is most comfortable for you..and have fun. You won't have a good time if you are miserable, well, due to your clothing choice that is. ;)

I think if you weren't pregnant and very uncomfortable in that it would be a bigger deal...since you are, go for the pants. It sounds like a very nice outfit, not like you're showing up in overalls and bedroom shoes or anything. Go for it and have a good time!

Your Pregnant with twins do as YOU WANT.....I'd wear the pants and shirt..with comfy shoes....I'm sure no one would dare to say anything and if they did OFF with there HEADS!!!

I think the pants outfit sounds great! Especially since I am wearing slacks to DH's Christmas party this year!!

However, if you truly think the dress is more appropriate, have you considered thigh-high stockings and low, comfy shoes. I discovered thigh-highs when I was pregnant with DD2! I too hated wearing hose when pregnant, but had to with my work clothes. Thigh-highs were a great compromise.

I will say this though: definitely wear what you, the pregnant with twins mom, are most comfortable in!

yeah, I've tried thigh highs before and I always get one leg slipping down on me. I don't know if its just luck or my thighs! LOL!

I'm seriously thinking about those bedroom slippers, though...maybe some fancy black ones? Oooh...sounds comfy! :)

thanks everyone! If I wasn't pg I wouldn't do it, but I am very seriously tempted.

I feel your pain!! Only I'm not carrying twins but I am due in Feb! I say go for the pants. It sounds like a very nice outfit. I too am wearing a nice pair of black pants with a crimson colored peasant-type shirt to DH's work party.

I also like zurgswife's "off with their head" line of thinking!!

If you wear the dress I would definately consider thigh highs. I wore these while I was pregnant and not only were they comfortable but they make you feel sexy.:)

If you wear the pants, which I would do, treat yourself to a nice pair of dressy earrings or something and have fun!

You are pregnant with twins and you are entitled to wear what makes you feel most comfortable. You will look beautiful and glowing in whatever you decide to wear to the party.

I'd wear the pants and top, and find some really fabulous dressy jewelry(think rubies...real or fake!!!;) ...to pick up the red in the top.

I totally agree with that. I think your red shirt/black pants sound very appropriate, by the way, even if you weren't having twins.

Sounds fine to me. I wore black velvet pants and top to a wedding last holiday season. I was 5 mos pregnant and carried very large. Normally I would never wear pants to a wedding, but I didn't give a crap.

I'm with Disney Doll. "Dress up" the pants and shirt with some sparkle and shine. You'll be fine.

I'd wear the slacks and top. :)

I dont know, the post was so long I didnt read it

I'm picturing something simple and chic for the stretchy black dress...do you have any pretty flats you could wear with it so your feet might be happier?

Jason- your posts are getting so long!!! Seriously! ;)

I'd wear the pants and top. Comfort is everything to a pregnant woman. Especially with twins.
