I just had to find a place to post how wonderful it is to see DS hit a milestone and come thru with flying colors! DS is 19, and has Aspergers, CP and a multitude of other contributing delays. I have homeschooled him since the public school system became a nightmare in 8th grade. long story short I enrolled him in community college and tonight he had his first and only class of the semester that is actually held at the college, from here out they are distance learning. the class was held late, 6-9pm which did not bode well for his ability to focus, and he was really worried about being able to speak up if he needed help. I waited just down the hall and did not intrude at all, I let him handle it all himself and he was great! he did not talk to the other students waiting before class in the hall, but when I moved closer to the door I did hear him ask the teacher to repeat an instruction. after class when he did not appear, I peeked in to find him waiting to talk to the teacher and he asked her a very good question. He talked non-stop all the way home about how great it was and said he thinks he could handle a class next semester! I know this is not a big deal for those with NT kids, but he is my only child and I have waited for this day a long time. Ok, just had to brag a little, I could not be a happier Mommy today
