What is the longest trip you've ever taken where you have only packed a carry on bag and say, a backpack or something? We are going for 3 nights and I'd like to attempt to do just that. Do you think it can be done?

I've done that for my 5 day trips with no problems. I use space bags to get the most in, and wear a sweatshirt/jacket to free up space.

I also pack a small duffle in the bottom of my carryon so the return trip I can bring home souvenirs (if needed), then just check my main carryon for the flight home.

HTH!!! :teeth:

3 days is nothing. I fit all of our clothes (2 adults and 2 kids) in a carryon for a weekend.

If it's for myself, I can pack 7 days worth of clothing in a carryon and I don't use space bags either. It's all in what clothing you pack. Neutral colors that are interchangeable and mix and matches will get you far.

We're going for 8 days - carryon only. Summer clothes are pretty lightweight, really... You can do it!

Three weeks to Europe. (You don't have much choice if you'll be taking any public transportation when you get there.)

I can't! I have to pack the night before cause we're leaving June 4th! :cool1:

I'm sure you would be able to do it. (I wouldn't, but I usually wind up wearing only half of what I bring. I am getting better, though!)

Well, see, I was wrong on my date. We are also leaving so you would need to be there on the 3rd. But since you are packing on the 3rd you can do mine on the 4th. ;)

We're flying at 5:30am from Pittsburgh, so unless I make a detour to TX first, it ain't happening, honey! :rotfl:

Hope to see you down at the World though. We'll be at the Dolphin then moving to CR. If you see a short asian woman with a big white guy and 2 munchkin boys, please say HI! :goodvibes

I'll be sure to look for you! I'll have my DIS button on so please stop me. I look an awful lot like that lady in the picture in my signature! ;)

I've travelled for 8+ months with ONE *big* backpack (from Australia to USA, Asia, Europe etc). You can do it if you have to. That being said, I'll have a big ol' suitcase this time for our 2 week trip to WDW.

Three days? No problem. I could probably pack a carry-on for 5-6 days. More than that and I would take some laundry detergent and dryer sheets.

I find that I can pack tighter if I roll shirts and shorts. I would wear jeans or slacks and wear/carry sweatshirt on the plane since the airlines always keep planes so cool. Also wear your comfy tennis shoes. Pack 1 swimsuit, and at least one shorts, t-shirt, underwear socks for each day. If you're messy or like to change partway through day, pack necessary extras. Also 1-2 sets pajamas & 1 pr sandals. If planning to go out for a nice date night that requires dress-up, take an all-cotton, no wrinkle dress (roll up in bag) and pair of dress shoes. Also, pack small duffel bag for dirty laundry and/or souvenirs. And pack travel sized toiletries instead of full-sized.

I just managed to fit every summer item my family of four owns into 1 suitcase and 1 duffel bag. It's a good thing we are driving because I know I would be over the weight limit for flying. Just roll tight and squeeze them in there.

We usually have one carry-on apiece..dd, dh, and myself. dd has her backpack or a tote bag, I have my WDW totebag, and dh carrys the electronic stuff in a good size camera bag. Then, we each have a carry-on size bag that we pack our clothes in for our trip. We could, feasibly, carry those on with us, but it's a major hassle. If it's the three of us traveling, we each have a bag. If it's just dd and myself, we have been able to get by with just one larger bag.

Besides, we tend to pack light, and do laundry there if we are staying longer than 5 nights. I just pick an evening when we are staying in so to speak, and do a load then. Or during a mid-day break while at the pool.

We always travel with one carryon each, DH, DS and myself. Did a month in Europe with a 7 day med cruise with the same. I plan to do laundry if we are travelling more than 5 days. I too roll clothing and use similar color schemes so that we can mix and match. If you like water park/pools, I recommend 2 swim suits each so one can dry. I take space bags, but only use them for the return trip. They are very handy for the wet and dirty clothes and make room for those souveniers. I also pack a beach tote, which we use at the parks, but can also be used to bring back extra purchased treasures.

5 days to Chicago (in the winter) using an Eagle Creek folder and a few cubes, and wearing my coat on the plane. I just can't make myself deal with a lot of luggage. :earsgirl:

Us, too. Although it was actually only 18 days, but we still did it! :cool1:
