Can I cancel room with 100% refund?

I think I have read here that you can book through the Disney site and cancel and get a full refund (and I feel like I read you could cancel pretty close to the date, too). Is that right? We are thinking of going late April, but it's not definite. Rooms are filling up and I was wondering if I could book a room at CSR with the 35% room discount code (since the rooms that are available with the discount at that time are almost gone, I had to fool around with dates just to find one), and then cancel altogether or change the dates if I need to. Can someone help? I'm confused! Thanks!

If I remember it is 5 days before your arrival date and you get your money back.

Depends on when. If you booked a package reservation, you can cancel with a full refund of your deposit or payment anytime up to 45 days before arrival. If you're at 45 days or after, you'll pay a cancellation fee.

If you booked a room only reservation, you can cancel without penalty anytime up to 5 days before arrival.

CANCELLATION POLICY: In order to receive a refund of your deposit, including credit card deposit transactions, notification of cancellation must be received 5 days prior to your arrival date. To cancel a reservation, call (407)-W-DISNEY(934-7639). Additionally, if you are holding any other reservations, they will not be cancelled unless you advise us. I had to cancel a trip last year within 2 weeks and got a full refund. It was a package.

Wonder if it changes if you reschedule? We had to cancel our reservation within the 45 day mark last year....we just rescheduled because I didn't want to lose deposits on 2 rooms. The packages were paid for....although they did include free dining, so we have to wait to see if that comes out to add it back.....still, if we cancel our reservations did it reset the 45 day window now that we moved our reservations or does the original still count?

You can do this, but take note that when you do, it will convert the reservation to a package and you'll no longer have the 5-day no penalty cancellation. It'll be 45 days. You must also pay a package reservation in full no later than 45 days before arrival.
