We are staying offsite in June and only have one car. One day my DD & I want to go to MK while DH & DS go to Downtown Disney & Disney Quest.

What would be the best way for DD & I to get to MK & leave DH with car?

Could we

a) be dropped off at Magic Kingdom without paying for parking?
b) be dropped off at Animal Kingdom Lodge (close to our house) and ride the bus to MK?
c) open for suggestions!

Thanks in advance!!

You can be dropped off at the TTC, from where you can ride the monorail or ferryboat to the MK. There's no guest drop off right at the MK.

When you pass through the MK parking toll gate, go thru one of the right-most lanes that has a green light. The cm in the booth will give you directions to the TTC drop off area. (Basically, it's right next to the Polynesian entrance.) There will be no charge.

I don't know whether or not the security cm at AKL would let you in just to be dropped off to catch the bus.

Yes, you can be dropped off at either contempory resort (not going beyond gate, without going to get breakfast or shopping or something), or trans and ticket center. The T and TC just take ferry, or monorail over, the other you can walk, or take the bus.

I am not sure about AK, but I see no reason why you could not be dropped off at AKL. Have breakfast at the QS location, or go to the shop, they should let you in. Then take the bus over.

I can't think of any place to be dropped off at the CR outside the gate that would not block traffic or be unsafe.

You can be dropped off at CR - just tell the gate attendant what you are doing. We did this when part of my family took the steam train tour - they had to be at MK by 7:15 for that. It worked perfectly - just a five minute walk to MK from there.

Just pick a resort you want to get dropped off at, and tell them at the gate that you are just visiting the resort. DH and I have parked at the CR so we could walk over to MK to get our favourite fruit turnover at the Main Street Bakery - quick walk, in and out! You could get dropped off at the Polynesian and take the monorail, or go to the Wilderness Lodge and take the boat. Really, any resort would do, just get dropped off and take an MK bus. If your DH wants to go right to DTD and park, you could just take one of the resort buses from there and then get off at that resort and take the MK bus (would take longer, but might be easier for your DH).

I think we might do this - we will need breakfast anyway!

If you want to be at MK at rope drop there is no reason to take all the time to go to a hotel and go from there. Have your husband take you to the MK drop off spot (when you go through the toll gates you stay to the far right) and they will allow you on through without paying.

They drop you off and you walk over to the monorail or ferry and head to the park.

They can then do what they want - or head to DTD to wait for DQ to open.

We did this in March. Hubby dropped us off at the TTC just at the base of the monorail area and picked us up again that evening. Worked perfectly.

The reason to go to the CR is its quicker. Its maybe an extra 5 minutes drive and then a quick walk over to the MK vs an unknown time waiting for the ferry or the monorail to take you over.

We had considered going to AKL b/c it is the closest to our house. I see your point about CR though - thanks!

yes yes that is true - my point was it was silly for them to go to a hotel such as AKL and then take the bus from there as they were talking about...if you want to drive on up to CR and avoid the monorail/ferry that is fine too.
