Can I add a location request now?

We made our reservations some time ago for our trip to SSR in Sept. I didn't make any requests except n/s. Now that the Paddock is open I don't want to stay there. Can I call MS now and make a request or is this frowned upon?

It should be fine! Just remember that requests are not guarantees, but are only requests...any number of factors can determine what area/room is available at any time.
