Has anyone checked out this book, and does anyone have an opinion as to how effective it is?

I Can Make You Thin

Thanks in advance for any and all help :thumbsup2

Not unless you are willing to do everything he says you need to do. In other words, eat healthier and less food than you do now and exercise more. There are some psychological tricks he gives to help you on your journey, but its mostly the same common sense stuff that is already known to work.

Not unless he's at the homes of the readers and can push away the plate.

Yes, I have an opinion about how effective it would be: as effective as the preceding 400,000 diet books that have been published in the past 50 years.

His ideas all make sense. Eat less, eat the right things, exercise, etc. - stuff we already know. Now if you have the will power to do it is the question

No, he can't make you thin. I can't make you thin. Only you can make you thin.

Eat less and/or exercise more. Take your vitamins. Drink your water. Get enough sleep.

Good luck!

Haha- I saw this at B&N yesterday and thought - Yeah I can make me thin too. I just have to followthrough with all the information I ALREADY know! It's all an energy equation. Eat less/Move more - super simple, but you just have to work it and keep at it once you reach your goal. Easy on paper - harder in real life. I also believe that in addition to the energy equation - you need to eat healthier too - cut out the junk, perservatives, refined and processed foods and sugar. Eat whole, clean, natural, organic as much as possible.

He had a series of shows on TLC I think, maybe not, but I tried some of his tricks and they didnt' work for me.

The only way HE can make me thin is if he personally sucks this fat off my thighs. Otherwise it will take ME doing the things I already know is the right things to do.

Doing it all, still working on it. I just didn't know if this guy knew something I didn't know. Thanks for all the input. :thumbsup2

I disagree with the other posters because I believe Paul McKenna's weight loss techniques work for most people. He has a 70% success rate in helping people lose weight. I watched McKenna's five part series on losing weight on TLC last spring, and I believe his ideas work better than any diet technique I have ever tried. (And believe me, I have tried everything to lose weight, from Weight Watchers to Atkins, diet pills, and everything in between). Paul McKenna's approach is the best thing I have ever tried and it works! He doesn't believe it "dieting". He only has four "golden rules".

1. When you are hungry, eat.
2. Eat what you want (not what you think you "should".)
3. Eat consciously and enjoy every mouthful.
4. When you are full, stop eating.

Paul's technique WORKS, and it is very easy. No dieting, no counting calories, plus you can eat whatever you want. With his technique, which is just common sense that we as Americans never seemed to learn, you will learn to stop eating when you are full. He teaches a tapping technique (TFT/EFT) to help with cravings, teaches you neuro-linguistic programming, and he uses hypnosis to help program you to slow down eating and savor your food. I bought the book, but for me what was most helpful was the five part TLC special which I recorded (and saved) on my DVR. I think the book will help you lose weight, but instead of buying it, you might want to get it through an interlibrary loan to see if it works for you. Be sure and get the book that comes with the CD. It really helps to listen to the CD daily.

The first month I tried the McKenna technique, I lost nine pounds and I ate everything I wanted, including ice cream, candy bars, enchiladas, everything! It was so simple. For the first time in my life, I had total control over food. And as long as I sit at the table and eat slowly and consciously and enjoy my food, and don't eat mindlessly in front of the TV or computer, I keep the weight off. So very simple. I love Paul McKenna and highly recommend all of his products.

No offense, but that sounds like a bunch of BS to me. And while eating enchiladas, ice cream and candy bars may work for the first month, those are not good choices for long term health and weight loss. There just is no substitute for developing healthy eating habits and busting your butt in the gym.
