Can DVC owners take part in the free dining package?

I was thinking of renting points for our upcoming trip to WDW my question is can I get the dining package if I rent points? Thanks!

If you rent points it is from an individual member. The "free dining" is only available with packages booked through Disney reservations. You may want to do a detailed cost comparison of the two options. Renting points and paying for meals may not be any more expensive than the plan through central reservations.
