Can borrowed points be transfered?

What is the reasoning for denying owners the ability to use all of the points they have paid for without an additional call? That doesn't sound like member SERVICE, but rather member HASSLE.

Think of it in terms of when the 11 month window opens for each reservation. For example, the Member has two accounts each containing 200 BLT and wants to book a 7 day vacation at BLT that starts on 6/10/2011. When the 11-month window opens on 7/10/2010, the Member calls MS and makes a reservation for the first 3 days using points from her Account #1. MS gladly makes that reservation without a problem. Then, while still talking to MS, the Member asks MS to book the last 4 days of the trip using points from Account #2. No can do, says MS, because that portion of the trip starts on 6/13/2011, and the 11-month window won't open for that trip until 7/13/2011. The Member needs to call back on 7/13/2010 in order to complete her 7-day stay using two Accounts.

Does this make sense?

Yes, that makes sense. But, if I waited to make my first call on 7/13 in that scenario, would MS make the entire reservation for me in one call?

Yes, the entire reservation could be made on 7/13. It will still be two reservations (one from each unique membership number) and MS will link them together into one seamless stay (usually under the first reservation number). All of the points will need to be from the same Home Resort to do this at 11 months.

Yes, I'm positive they would. Just two days ago my sister and I called MS and made reservations for 2-bedroom villas at AKV for 6/8 to 6/13/2011. My sister booked her villa from her account, and then she handed the phone to me and I booked our villa from my account. My wife and I already know that we want to add on a few more days starting on 6/13/2011 after our family gathering. But we'll have to wait until 7/13/2010 before we book our studio accommodation.

That is exactly what I'm saying. Say you need 300 points to make one reservation and you have 2 totally separate accounts of 150 points each same resort. You cannot call and reserve using all 300 points under the one call to get 7 days option at 11 months out. That might be a good reason to transfer points if it's important to you.

Different than what is being talked about for the home booking priority but the same thing applies to 7 month bookings. If you are using points from two accounts you will have to wait to book from the second account unless you transfer or call far enough into the 7 month window where you would be eligible to book from both accounts.

Yes but if you are trying to book for a busy time of year or for a room type that is limited, you will want to call exactly 11 months out for each of the two reservations that make up your vacation. You also risk getting the first set of nights but not the second set if other members get through to MS before you do on the second call.

This never even occurred to me. Are you saying MS will not let me make ALL of my reservations during one phone call between all of the accounts we have? Why not?

Like someone else said, you have a different 11 month time frame for different contracts. We have a small 50 point Dec UY contract for OKW and our larger 175 Sept UY for OKW. I just reserved seven nights at OKW in early June for next year. I had to creatively transfer some of the points from the Dec 2010 UY contract to the Sep 2010 UY contract to get enough points to get my first six nights (including borrowing from the Sep 2011 UY). I got those six nights seven days ago. Then yesterday, I added the seventh night with my Dec OKW contract - using the rest of the 2010 points and borrowing some from 2011.

I had two small problems. Last Sat when I started the process, I told the CM at MS that I needed to transfer 20 points from my Dec contract to my Sep contract. He misunderstood me and transferred all 50. I would have had points left over in Sep 2010 and not enough in Dec 2010 to make the reservation (because you can't borrow transferred points). So I told him he needed to correct the error. I was on the line waiting for about 10 minutes before he came back and said the error had been corrected. Then he made my six night reservation. He did warn me that I could only do one transfer in or out per UY, though, and was worried that I would have just the few points left over in my Dec 2010 UY.

When I called yesterday for the last night, I gave the reservation number for the first six nights and asked the CM to link the two reservations (two different contracts). BUT, the first CM had made the six night reservation in my husband's name (his is the first name on the contract) and the second had the one additional night in my name (my name is first on that contract).

So she had to change the names around to get them lined up correctly so the two reservations could be linked.

In the end it all worked out. We have our seven nights in a GV at OKW, but for someone less experienced, it might have been a disaster.

It will lessen your chances of success. Technically this would be 2 different members in DVC's eyes.

Thanks for all the insight everyone. I'm new to this multiple-account juggling and appreciate your help! =)
