Can AP Price be adjusted if special pricing occurs

We have a family trip scheduled for the end of February. When I was talking to Member Services about adding tickets to our reservation so that I could start choosing our FP+ attractions he mentioned that "you might want to wait a few weeks before buying tickets" which seemed to imply that this could be one of the dvc perks that could come out, although I realize this is unreliable info.

So, does anyone know if I buy APs now with the existing DVC discount but better pricing happens to comes available when they release the 2014 perks, can I have the price difference adjusted if we had not started using the APs yet? Or can we upgrade or downgrade tix based on any promotional pricing that may be offered on only a particular ticket type? (can we change a MYW ticket to an AP or vice versa)?

I would like to buy our tickets soon so we can schedule out FP attractions and know it is iffy if there even will be a discount on tix offered. But I also don't want to miss out on a potential cost saver if it is just a matter of waiting another week or two.

Thanks for any advice/suggestions!

Official policy is no. But, there were some reports of people being able to get a credit on a Disney Gift Card back when the $399 PAP Promo was going on.

Yes, you can upgrade MYW passes to an AP. This is done all the time. Downgrading already purchased tickets is not a common event.

Thank you very much. I think, then, I might just buy MYW tickets for now so at least we can start booking our FP+. If DVC does offer another AP or PAP super special perk before our trip I should be able to upgrade the MYW tickets to APs. We are considering taking another 2014 trip in the fall, so a good deal on APs would be helpful in that case and might tip the scales in favor of another 2014 trip. Wow talk about a win win, here's to hoping! Thanks again

Yes, we did that exactly that 2012 when after they announced the $399 special AP pass (we were just on our way to Disney). Cost us an extra $3 to change from a 10 Day MYW pass to an annual pass and we had purchased the tickets through an authorized dealer, not directly from Disney.

Hoping to see that special again :-)

It's worth noting that there was some fine print involved with upgrades when then $399 PAP was offered.

With tax, the price of that pass was $425. Officially, upgrade were only permitted if the ticket you already owned cost LESS than the $425 PAP. If you were already holding a MYW ticket or AP that cost MORE than $425, no upgrade was permitted.

Again that was the official policy. There were reports of people finding a sympathetic Cast Member who pushed-through the upgrade. But there were also people who were told they simply could not upgrade. At the time, the face value of an Annual Pass was more than $425 so even people who were holding unused vouchers were denied a seemingly free upgrade to the Premium Annual Pass.

In essence, Disney's policy appear to be that upgrades were allowed if they would prompt you to spend MORE money to acquire the discounted PAP, but not if you had already spent more than the $425.

Just some food for thought...
