Your sister made her first mistake by sending her DDs link to the whole family, especially 80 yo grandparents, LOL. She is 17, there are definitely going to be some 'swears' going on between her and her friends.
She is 17 years old. I assume a high school senior? If she is not savvy enough to learn to protect herself online, something went wrong somewhere.
The fact that she shared her myspace page with her parents is a good thing, it is highly doubtful she is using it for horrible things.
You family needs to learn that she is on the cusp of adulthood and they need to have some faith that she probably knows alot more about internet safety/dangers than they do.
For a young woman of 17, the only thing you really can do is remind her to be safe.
If she were alot younger, myspace may not be an appropriate venue...but at 17, I think they are totally overreacting.
I think it is nice that you are so willing to learn more about it before jumping to conclusions.
