Can anyone sell me on MNSSHP?

I know you are already sold on it, but I just have to say I LOVE MNSSHP!!! And I'm 54 years old. I've never been a big fan of Halloween due to the stress of the costume finding thing when my kids were little and having the candy ready, etc. But no one does Halloween like Disney. I love it!

I went with DD in 2002 and solo in 2005. It was just the greatest time. I didn't wear a costume - many don't - but I did feel a little festive in an orange tshirt :)

Even though it is early in the month, I think I would still do the Thursday night party. There is no SpectroMagic, but this year's Boo to You parade was the best ever. I am seeing this through adult eyes though, so I have no idea what might be scary to a little one even though I don't feel it is scary at all. Young parents would know more about that. Hallo-wishes was worth the ticket price alone!!! I don't know if this happened earlier in the evening also, but sometime between 11:30 and midnight as I was walking by the castle, all the villains came out on the castle forecourt to play with BBW (Big Bad Wolf) as the DJ!!!!! I loved this!!

Earlier in the evening I decided not to wait in line for Snow White and the seven because the cm said they would be back every hour on the half hour. I didn't find them again and so wished I hadn't passed up that photo opportunity.

Rode BTMR three times in a row. There were less than ten of us riding Splash - it was cold later in the evening.

To jordancej: I was solo this part of my trip and just loved doing as I pleased at the party. And I would have easily gone two nights in a row if I would have had the time available. It was just an incredibly fun time!!!

This is making me very sad that I don't have an October trip planned this year.

I just wanted to say that I have really enjoyed this thread.I have beenlooking for info on MNSSHP and all my questions have been answered .I now HAVE to go!Gotta love the disboards!!!! :cool1:

Thanks Collette!! That makes me feel better!!! Just from all the reading all the posts.... i'm just so excited about the party!!

How are the hours for the parks the end of October?? :confused3 Ive been twice during in December and the hours of the parks usually stay open later (except AK)... anyway i was thinking if the parks all close around 6 or 7 ..... thinking i could take advantage of late night hours with going 2 times to the party..... not like i have to worry about other peoples schedules.... hehe (1st time solo trip)

THanks!

going on the rides during MNSSHP was great. There were never more than 10 minute waits. On the other hand the trick or treating with the little ones was horrible. The lines were so long we finally gave up on it. The kids were just being pushed around from all the crowds. They were a little disappointed because they were anxious to show off their costumes to Mickey and the gang.

The dates for 2006 are posted at touringplans.com, they don't change much from year to year. I think I found them in the "best days" section.

Thank you, I found it finally! That was a big help. I'll just have to wait until April to see if they end up being the same as the predicted dates.

There's nothing quite like sitting on Main Street, waiting for the Headless Horseman to gallop past before the beginning of the MNSSHP parade and singing 'This is Halloween' from The Nightmare Before Christmas movie!!! As we looked around us, everyone was singing it! It was an awesome experience! You won't be disappointed!

I have actually already starting planning my costume for MNSSHP for this October!

My family and I went this year and I really wanted to go to MNSSHP, but alas we didn't make it. I think it would be great to do, but hubby and I went to MK that day and just thought the kids would be too tired (5,3, 21 months). We decided next trip we would just take that day "off" and just go to MNSSHP so everyone would be well rested and able to stay up late. On the other hand MK was EMPTY that day (I guess since it closed at 6) and we were able to just keep riding and riding Splash, thunder, pirates etc...) So we really did have a good day. Just some suggestions since I noticed you have the peanut crowd too....boy we had a blast!!

Thanks everyone for the great responses and such. As crazy as this sounds, I am already trying to plan costumes for the family. It all revolves around the Princess, o' course. (I'm thinking Cinderella for her, Prince Charming for the 2 yr old boy, Jaq for my husband, Suzy for me, and the Fairy Godmother for my mom. I'm pretty handy w/ a sewing machine. Too ambitious?)

The Thursday/Friday decision (if that indeed turns out to be the choice), is a really tough one for me (although Thursday SEEMS like a no-brainer on the surface, I am really leaning towards Friday). Here's why: We are switching resorts on Friday, which will be our last night there. Wednesday is already planned as a non-park day. I would prefer Tuesday as non-park, but Tuesday is the Princess' ACTUAL birthday, and I don't want to deprive her of a park on her birthday. The resort switching pushes me to a Friday MNSSHP, so that the kids can sort of sleep in the next day as all we will be doing is driving home (so we just have to be out of the resort by 11.) Also, it just seems like a really great way to end the vacation. Finally, we are planning on being at Epcot for the other night (Thursday if a Friday MNSSHP, Friday if a Thursday MNSSHP) and because the Food and Wine Festival will be happening, and there will probably be evening EMH at Epcot on FRIDAY, I would rather go to Epcot on Thursday anyway, avoiding both the locals for F&WF and the additional EMH crowd.

AM I OVERANALYZING THE SITUATION? I need a devil's advocate for whatever I am missing. Obviously, there will also be a "local" factor for a Friday as well at MNSSHP. Any thoughts?

Also, I would really like to hear from someone who has eaten at Crystal Palace on a Halloween party night. . .

for our last trip but we are glad we did it! We did not dress up but had just as good of a time as those that did (and didn't have to worry about the costume). We walked on most of the rides and it was great seeing the park decorated and at night. It does get much busier the closer you get to Halloween but we went in mid-October and it was a blast.

Go for it for sure but please tell me you were kidding about getting candy to use at home?!??!?!?

Lets put it this way. Disney only hosts 2 parties a year...MNSSHP and MVMCP. They are both awesome and something you should do at some point...but just the fact that there is 12 months a year and they only have 2 parties you have to know they are extremley "magical". Good luck in deciding! ::yes::

Our experience was last year, we went Oct. 7 , (it was a friday, our last night there). For the most part it was great. We had a 5 pm dinner at CP, and got done just as they were herding everyone to 3 sections. The rides were all walk on, some were nearly empty until about 8 pm and then it started to get pretty crowded-although the lines were never long for the rides, but there were some long lines for the characters-(but there was an area of dancing where the characters interacted and danced with the kids). We stayed till almost midnight. We missed both parades because the kids wanted to do rides(fine by me!). We didn't get much candy either, although that didn't bother me. I also forgot about the free picture and would have had to ask someone where to get it done, because I never saw any signs. The fireworks were really good, the atmosphere was really nice. I wouldn't plan my trip around it, but if I were there during that time I would definantly do it again!

Can anyone tell me the general timeframe for when these tickets go on sale? Are they available online or only by phone? Are they hard to get? (we're going the 15th-21).

Thanks.

They are available by phone. Seems to me the tickets went on sale about May 7th or 8th, or thereabout. Halloween night sells out quickly as does the day or two preceding, but the other nights are easy to come by if you call early. We went on Thursday the 6th, and it was so nice. Small crowds, tons of candy and walking on rides.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I can hardly wait!!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

I found the costume I have been wanting FOREVER on ebay for cheap cheap cheap and it arrived in the mail on Friday.

I still have to find some accessories to wear with it, and there won't be any ride riding the night I wear it, but since we're going 2 nights it doesn't really matter.

I tried it on and I really make a cute Mrs. Potts, if I do say so myself.:rotfl:

Well I tgought I would help people make the decision to go to the party by posting a few pics :)

DH and I went to MNSSHP this past October. We ended up going to two parties. One on Thursday nght and one on Friday night. We enjoyed both and are glad we went twice. The first night we were able to take it all in. We didn't feel rushed to see or do it all. We did not go for the purpose of riding on rides, but ended up doing such on the Friday night party. There were lines, but it was not out of control (except in Fantasyland).
It was a great experience! I really loved the fireworks and I will NEVER get "Boo to you and you" out of my head (which is fine by me!)
DH and I really had a blast and would go again in a hot second! It is really worth the cost.

Good pics...I absolutly loved the parade, it's now my second fave (right behind Spectromagic). I went on September 30th last year and I look forward to going again. I have a couple pics too I'll share. The HalloWishes fireworks show was beyond awesome too!

This is the castle during HalloWishes, it came out so cool...thats a skeleton going up the side of the castle.

My hub and I went on Halloween night this year. We did not dress up. We came home with two slammed full bags of candy. When we got to Pop Century we poured it out like little kids and sorted it into a chocolate and a not chocolate pile. We actually had MORE chocolate candy than not chocolate.

Watching all the kids in their costumes was a blast, so was trick or treating. I cannot wait for this fall. There really is just no way to describe how much fun it was. I would (shhh... dont tell disney!!) do just about whatever it took to get tickets. It was just a blast, and the fireworks ROCKED! My husband has already said he would probably dress up next year!

We took our first trip to Disney this past October (10/10 - 11/5) with our kids (ages 9,7, and 4). We went to the MNSSHP on Halloween night and we had the best time!! We trick or treated and literally walked on every ride. We did not see the Halloween parade because we knew we'd see other parades and the rides were so fun. The weather was great, the fireworks were great, and we thought it was not overly crowded. We thought it was definately worth the money because when we went back to Magic Kingdom later on during the week we were able to re-ride our favorites and not be stressed about hitting all the rides in the park as we were able to do so many of them halloween night.
