Can anyone sell me on MNSSHP?

We went on a Thursday at the beginning of October 2005. (Also MVMCP in 2004) I definiately give it two thumbs up...we had no lines for most of the rides (Except for Dumbo)!!! It had rained so we were not able to see the parade, but after about 20 minutes they sent out the characters in the cars (i forget the Disney lingo for it)..We had LTT ADR for 5:35, and it was the perfect time to see all the characters, get in and out before the park "officially" opened for the party. We were able to see Snow White and all 7 Dwarfs (by the Dumbo ride)..., for DD6, that was worth the $$$ itself!!! Now the wait for Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, was about ten minutes, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.....I didn't mention the candy. We started off with just getting candy for the kids, but the CM's talked the adults into getting the bags too...we ended up getting a ton of candy!

We went to MVMCP on the closing night, and it was sold out, and it was more crowded than MK was in the day....We were bummed, so I would have to be convinced to do that again.

Just wanted to add that if you do wear a costume, don't wear something too hot. The temp was still in the 80's at night when we went on Oct. 7th.The sky looked like it would rain any minute, very humid, but luckily it didn't rain.

You are all making me so excited! My husband and I are planning on going the very first night of the party! I can't wait! Thanks for all the great info!

Ditto what everyone else has said. We had the best time and we're still singing, "Boo to You and YOU!"....

If you stay late into the night, you'll get a TON of candy, since the CM's can't go back with candy still in their bins, they literally POUR it into your bag. It's crazy. I'm now convinced October is THE TIME to go - hopefully we'll go back next year!

1. Do I remember correctly that the ticket also qualifies as park admission (but you aren't supposed to be able to get in until a certain time) so that I wouldn't have to use a day on my hopper to go?
If I remember, the published party time is 7, but you can get in around 4. You can stay if you're already in, they'll just ask everyone staying for the party to go to one of the "lands" at 6pm.

We are planning on dining at the boardwalk beforehand, as we are staying over there. If we show up at the MK at 6:30 with our MNSSHP tickets, will we be admitted? Or would we have to wait at the gate until 7 pm?

We got in last year just fine around 6:30. I think if you arrive before 4, you need a regular admission ticket to get in and MNSSHP ticket to stay, but anytime after 4 and you can just use your Party ticket.

Ok... this is a really silly question.... does anybody go 2 separate times to the party??? I'll be coming in on Oct. 30 - Nov 3... i saw last year where they had the party on the 30 and the 31st.... thinking about going both nights... would that be silly??? (this will be my first solo trip)

I strongly agree with this, I was not expecting this kind of weather. I t was hotter at night (and the day for that matter) than when I've ever gone in April or May. :sunny:

If you want to spend the extra $$, it's up to you, but you can see the parade twice and ride everything and get all the candy and see Hallowishes in one night -- I can't really see going twice in the same week, but that's just me.

My family went in 2004. We liked the leisure / un-hurriedness of the night. All the guests just seemed to be at a take it all in approach. It was adorable watching all the children dressed in costumes. The kids were very excited looking at the other children's costume. My family had been to Disney in 2003 and liked going to MNSSHP because the lines were short. We rode Buzz Lightyear 4 times that night with out waiting. My children are young enough that meeting the characters and interacting at the Dance places were fun for them ( and us ). My daughter dressed as Lilo and when stitch saw her he hugged her and danced with her. Lots of magic in that night. We love the Disney parades. We camped out with snacks and watched the parade. Really did not feel we had to rush. It was fun...we are even hoping to go this year...

Loved MNNSHP!! Just did it in October for the first time as we usually do MVMCP but decided to switch it up this year instead. We went around the 14th or 15th and the crowds were minimal. Everything was pretty much a walk on. We started with BTMRR and DH and DS got to stay on for another round. (DD's didn't like the cave.) From there on out, we just kept going and going and going. Lines were minimal, candy was plentiful. The kids had a GREAT time getting dressed up and seeing other costumes. The parade was terrific - now a favorite, and it was fun to see the characters dressed up as well. The fireworks were even different and very cool! We had a great time and will do this again as we have decided to rotate between parties from here on out. You get all of the extra touches for a smaller price than a one day ticket and you accomplish so much more with minimal crowds. It's a no brainer in our book!! :earsgirl:

We went for the first time last year. Got to meet other Dis board members :) had so much fun we were there on the first night. Not crowded at all. Can't wait until this year!!!

My DS12 and I went from Oct 22-28 last year and went to MNSSHP on the 24th. Had so much fun we went back on the 27th. If you can afford it, I say go for it. I believe the 31st sells out every year so you may have bigger crowds. I don't regret going twice at all! :Pinkbounc

If I am already in the MK for the day do I also have to buy a ticket to MNSSHP or does my admission ticket cover the whole thing?

3. If I had a choice between Thursday, Oct. 5 or Friday, Oct. 6 (based on touringplans predictions), is Friday going to be A LOT (not just a little) more crowded?

Can someone tell me what is touringplans or what are the dates which touring plans has predicted? We will be there October 14th - 21st. Can anyone tell me which dates are predicted during that time?

You MUST do MNSSHP. It was one of the highlights of our trip. We ate at Tony's town square (great meal, great waiter) and thoroughly enjoyed the rides (they let us ride space mountain and splash mountain over and over again because no one was in line) and the characters.

We did not view the parade, choosing instead to go on rides. Our favorite part of the evening was Hallowishes. Someone kindly told us to position ourselves in front of the castle to view it and they were dead on the money. Probably the most AMAZING fireworks/musical show we've ever seen. We ate at Ohana the next night where they piped in the music and we watched it again. My kids are still humming that music. Following the fireworks, the Villains put on a dancing extravaganza on the stage in front of the castle. Kids got the villains' autographs afterward.

We opted to wear halloween t-shirts instead of costumes. One, it rained the first hour or so of the party. Two, we were so hot from running around all night it worked out great.

I only got tickets to MNSSHP because my kids were going to miss halloween at home because of a school function. I am so glad we went. Have a great trip.

O.K., so I went to touringplans.com and looked for predicted 2006 MNSSHP dates and couldn't find anything. Can anyone help?

Sorry I am hijacking this thread, just didn't want to start another.

The 2006 dates might not be available yet. If I recall, I want to say they came out around April for 2005.

The dates for 2006 are posted at touringplans.com, they don't change much from year to year. I think I found them in the "best days" section.
