Hi!

We have a friend of our family that will require an electric wheelchair for her trip to Disney - she'll be staying at Beach Club. Can anyone recommend a good service provider for this?????

Best wishes,
David

You may want to ask on the Disabilities board. Perhaps a moderator will move this thread. I went there last summer after breaking my right ankle two weeks befor our Disney trip. I used Scooterbug, which gave me the best price. They provided excellent service and the vehicle was in good working condition. Disney has a list of preferred vendors here. There are other vendors besides what is on that list.

We used Apple Scooters. It was there when my father in law landed (we were off at a park when he got in), and he had no issues getting it from bell services or using it.

There are some that are approved by the resorts and others that are not. If they are not approved by the resorts, you have to be there to accept delivery and there to transfer it back to the company when you are done with it. Check the Disabilities Board for sure.

Yep.

But know that "approved" means that the company paid Disney to be on the list.

I've rented from Walker a few times. They are not "approved." So, yes, I had to be there. But they were extremely helpful, both while I was there and when setting up my rental.

The only reason I am no longer renting from them, is because I now have a personal scooter.

I have rented several of them for multiple family members and from multiple companies. I think my favorite is Florida Mobility Rentals. They are not on Disney's approved list. Because of this, you need to meet the driver at the resort to get your scooter and also to return the scooter. I don't find this to be an issue but some might.

I have rented from Apple before and while they are nice, I have had problems with scooters arriving damaged. In fact, one time, I had a scooter dropped off that had a huge crack in the base where you place your feet. While they took care of the issue in a very timely manner, it did bother me that they would even try to drop that scooter off for use with such damage. We were concerned about the safety of the unit. That is something that you just don't want to deal with if you have someone who is handicapped or has barriers to access on your vacation.

First, I will say it has been awhile since I rented an ECV for my wife. We purchased one for her a few years back. When we did rent, it was from Walker's. At the time apparently they could bring and leave scooters at the resort, without me being present. They provided reliable equipment and the customer service and price were excellent.

Unfortunately, Apple now has an F rating with the Florida Better Business Bureau, which scared me away from them. I've used Walker twice and had excellent service both times. Yes, I had to be there, but they made it very easy and quick. Buena Vista Scooters, a preferred provider, also has great reviews.

We also rented from Walkers and didn't have to be there. Must have changed. But we had a great experience.
