This all started with going twice this year and buying those AP's. They're of course burning holes in our pocket and it's so exciting to be AP people. We were so psyched when we got them a couple weeks ago. WELL dilemma is.......

I told DH about the great room prices for the fall, and he said, "What about flying down for a 4 day week-end in October during the Food and Wine Festival???" We would be able to literally do it for $1000.00. $300.00 for two plane tickets, (looked that up tonite), it would be about $600.00 for 4 nights at a deluxe like AKL or WL (never stayed at either of these yet!!!), then we are AP people so we get some discounts on restaurants etc. AND we have about $300.00 of Disney Visa Reward Dollars to use up. SOOOOOOOO we could come out of this really nice and also staying deluxe. (We always like splurging with deluxe)

Problem~~~we live in MN. I haven't flown in over 20 years since I'm scared to. Now, I HAVE flown before, (to Europe and when we lived in the south, back home to WI), but just decided it wasn't worth being so scared anymore. I SO wish I could just happily walk on that plane and be in Orlando in 2 1/2 hours!!! We've always driven. Can anyone help??? We ARE going in December and will definitely be driving then, but gee, this opens up a whole new world if I would just fly (and those AP's, I can't believe I could walk in there ANYTIME!!!) Too cool!!! HELP!!!

If I get nervous about flying, I just think of the thousands of planes flying everyday without any problems. There's a much better chance you'd get in a car accident than in a plane accident. Airplanes are a really safe form of transportation.

THIS website helped me TREMENDOUSLY!!!! I went a dozen years without flying and the pilots on this board got me back up in the air. I now fly about 100K miles a year!

www.fearofflying.com Check out the Message board and read and/or post. ALSO come to group chat on Wednesday nite at 9pm EST. You can access the chat room from that home page.

GOOD LUCK!

If you need to PM me please feel free. I would be happy to talk to you about FOF (fear of flying).

Another vote here for fearofflying.com . I hadn't flown in 11 years, but the SW rates ($49!!) and my AP were the impetus to book a flight. I went to the above-mentioned website, read through, and was ready for take-off!!

I flew in June and have booked 2 more flights since then. That website is great!!

Good luck!! You CAN do it!!

I had to fly last week for the first time in 10 years for work. I thought I would be a little nervous but it was not that bad. The only thing I did not like is that the flight from Orlando to Philly was delayed for over two hours and then when we landed in Philly we had to stay on the runway for 90 minutes because the flights were so backed up.

Thanks, I have checked over the website and read some of the things on the board. I'm going to show DH and see if he thinks I should do it. If it helps, I think it really would be worth it. I can't imagine just being able to jump on a plane and visit my sister in VA. You can't imagine the "theatrics" we go through getting me "driven" down there and back. AND being able to travel anywhere in the world again!!! Well, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Thank you SO much. It does look promising!!!

We flew as a family two weeks after 9/11. Talk about nervous! If you want to get there bad enough you'll get on that plane. Alcohol helps, but not too much.
