Can anyone give me a quick history of the DIS?

Hi all - I'm wondering if anyone can give me a quick history of the DIS - when it was started, by who, why, etc. I know a little bit about this, but was curious to know more. Any long-timers or mods want to give a quick history lesson?

Come over to the Podcast brd & speak w/ the owner directly! It was started by Pete Warner. He and his then-partner John were living in NJ. Pete started the brds as "fun" and they just took off. He and John also own Dreams Unlimited Travel. Listen to the Podcasts. Even if you don't have an ipod, you can listen on your compter. A good year ago, maybe a bit more, they did a show about the history of the brds. I don't remember the show #, but I'm sure if you ask on the Podcast brd, someone will remember. It's a very interesting show.

I think it was June 2007 as the 10 year anniversary of the DIS. Pete, John, Kevin, Corey and the rest of the podsquad are proof of how you can follow your dreams

he does still read the boards, mostly the Podcast board, but he's a busy man! Also, i would bet that he hesitates replying sometimes because of politics and people taking something the wrong way, etc.
