O.k this may sound dumb but I have a Sony cybershot (3.2 pixels) camera and it came with a charger and chargeable batteries. I lost the charger for it and I was just wondering if I have to buy the exact same charger for it through Sony- it is quite expensive. and do I need those exact batteries. I know it's a dumb question but I can't use my camera because the batteries are not charged.

Are they standard battery sizes? Like AA size?

From sterlingtek I got 2 batteries and an ac/dc charger for $50. Many people have never had a problem with their batteries.

If they are standard size AA batteries then just get rechargables. Check the numbers, Higher number like 2600mah will last longer and usualy recharge a flash faster. batts and a quick charger should be around $25 US.

They are AA batteries... you can use the regular batteries, or get yourself some replacement rechargables. Check the type of battery, and if the new chager is compatable, you would be able to use the old batteries in it as well.

I guess the key there is batteries. I have never seen a camera that uses more than one proprietary(sp) battery.

You don't want to charge alkaline batteries. They can (and have) explode.

Your ok. In fact you can buy a charger anywhere any brand that will charge AA Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries.

Not familiar with the brands but I read of some favoring the LaCrosse brand.

Also the slower you charge a battery, life of the battery is longer. The faster you charge the battery it gets hotter and shortens the life of the battery.

Sony ships Sony batteries with their cameras. If they have the letters HR stamped on the end or printed on the side of the battery it is Sanyo batteries. The word on the street is that Sanyo makes the best battery.

Are you aware that with this type battery you will have to completely charge and discharge them about 3-5 times before they reach their full capacity (brand new)?

You might try your next hotel for a charger. People leave various types of chargers (mostly cell phone) in hotels all the time. Tell them that you left yours there the last time you stayed there and they'll often bring out a big box full of chargers.

The same trick works for gas caps at gas stations.
