We have a 11:30AM flight out of LAX on Friday, July 31. Must have rental car, so need to build in time to have shuttle drop us at Airtran terminal upon rental return.

What time do I need to leave Anaheim, if I want to be in terminal at 9:30AM?

How is Friday morning traffic? I was thinking 3-1/2 hours...last time we only allowed 3 hours and we missed our flight! That would mean leaving our Anaheim hotel at 6:00AM for a 11:30AM flight, YIKES!!!

What do you think? Locals?

Oh gosh. I'd leave at 7:00. Gives you 2 hours to get to the rental car place and 30 minutes for the shuttle to get you to your terminal when you want to be there. I'm assuming you've given yourself a good hour and a half or so in the terminal, to be sure you get through security and have plenty of time before your flight boards. I'd take the 5 fwy to the 605 South to the 105 Fwy. Check the AM radio stations (1070 or 980) for traffic reports. You could also do the 5 fwy to 91 fwy to 605 north to 105 fwy. Just depends which sounds worse on the traffic, the 5 or the 91. There are other routes, too, if the 105 is bad. Get yourself an LA area freeway map and keep it with you, just in case you need a different route.

Leave at 7AM. Take the I-5N to 91W to 110N to 105W.

It might only take 35 minutes, but it can take 90.

Go with your instinct, especially if last time you missed your flight.
