A couple of things....
First, remember that there is a huge difference between a PTA and a PTO. A PTA falls under the National PTA and is therefore regulated by their bylaws. A PTO is a stand alone organization at each school with its own bylaws, etc. So, to go to the State or National PTA, it must be an actual PTA chapter.
Second, I wish our PTA paid for some of the things ya'll are mentioning here. I was our PTA president for 2 years and am still very active. Several years back, before we moved to our school, the PTA agreed to supplement some wages after some state budget cuts. Well a little help one year turned into big help every year. This year our PTA budget has $18,000 going towards tutor and assistant salaries, and our principal wants more if we have it to give to her. Our parents are SICK of fundraising!!!!!!
What happen to PTAs paying for school supplies and playgrounds?
