Can a child use an adults ticket?

My mom got tickets for our trip. I have an AP but she bought my husband and my son their tickets. She got them both adult tickets! My son is only 4. Will they care that he is using an adult ticket?

Why not try having your mom exchange it for a child's ticket, and getting back the difference in cost? If they won't do it at the Disney Store, they should be willing to do it at guest services, you just might lose the advance purchase discount. But, as long as it's never been used, there shouldn't be a problem.

Having her take it back to the store is not an option as I will not see her again before we go. The tickets were also purchased over a week ago so would there be any way they could tell if they had been used by now?

Do you think WDW would take it as a trade in on a longer child's pass? I have heard of people taking in a child's ticket and exchanging them for an adult because the kid grew up but haven't heard them exchanging an adult ticket for a child's. Although if they were going to do that, wouldn't they just let the child use the adult ticket, I mean what would it matter if you exchanged it or not. They already have your money.

I don't think that would work. Disney doesn't allow ticket downgrading. I don't know if this would be an exception because it's the same level of pass, it's just a different age bracket. GoldenOldie can answer whether or not that can be done.

I can't imagine Disney WOULD have a problem with him using the ticket though because Disney would be coming out on top in that situation.

I personally would buy a child's ticket and keep the adult ticket for a future trip when he's old enough to use it. Can you imagine what admission will cost in 6 years?

The part in bold is absolutely an option. Just go to Guest Relations and ask them to upgrade to a child's ticket for one more day than whatever you have.

As long as whatever ticket you want to purchase costs more than the ticket you have in your hand, you can get the credit applied for the ticket you have in your hand.

Why not save the adult ticket for your "next trip" for your husband and put it away in a safe place (they never expire) and buy your child a new "child ticket" since prices are only going to go up. More than likely if you are on this board, you will be back soon enough... That is what I would do.

We would do that but spending another $170.00 for a new ticket isnt an option right now. We need that for spending money for this trip.

Of course, I am sure we will be back but hopefully by then we will be FL residents buying seasonal APs!
