Cam's New Lease on Life Journal (comments welcome!)

mmmm lasagne :)
Well done for resisting last night & i hope you manage to resist again tomorrow:)
.....but mmmmmmm lasagne :)

Thanks, Tracey! I really appreciate your support.

Unfortunately, Saturday night's lasagna-making experience was a lesson in indulgence and regret. I sampled all too many noodles dipped in the prepared ricotta and had such a stomach ache afterwards. I definitely got it out of my system, though.

As for yesterday, I could focus on the "tastes" of m&m's and nuts I had, but I'd rather focus on the fact that I put out trays of veggies and fruit and olives & pickles and noshed on all of those and never touched the chips, cheese & crackers. Thank God. Because I was so tempted. But I knew eating even a taste of any of those things would start a craving and an avalanche. I made up a great concoction for myself for dinner. I sauteed chopped garlic in a bit of olive oil and put in a huge can of diced tomatoes w/italian seasoning. Then mixed it with whole wheat pasta and layered it in a pan with fat free ricotta, fat free mozzarella & soy parmesan cheese. It was a good substitute for the lasagna everyone else was eating. I didn't feel too deprived.

I really want to stay purely core this week in hopes of seeing the scale drop a pound or two before Christmas and New Year's.

Went to the gym this morning. Late, but I got there. Did 5 miles in 1:12:26 (overall pace 14:29)

Food today (I am so incredibly hungry and here it is 11:06, I've had essentially 2 breakfasts and am still voracious! :confused3: )

B (~9:00) shredded wheat w/skim milk; coffee w/skim milk
B#2 (10:00) weight watchers oatmeal

Leaving soon to go hear DS13 sing with his boys' choir at a food drive kickoff at a downtown high-rise. Hoping I can hold out on the food front until I get back from that. I think I can get a diet soda in the lobby of that building if necessary to hold me over until lunch.

Great job with resisting the munchies at your party. :cheer2: . Your lasagna substitute sounds really good too.

Sorry you are so hungry now. Have you tried lemon water to fill up? Also, are nuts on the core list? Trader Joes has almonds packaged in 1/2oz little bags. I keep them in my car and they definitely satisfy. They do have a lot of fat, but I figure it is better than a bag of chips.

Great job getting to the gym this morning! sub 15 minute mph too! :cheer2:

The lasagne substitute recipe sounds great, i may have to borrow that :)
Well done on resisting & getting to the gym, wish i could borrow some of that motivation too :)
How did the choir go?
I went to see my DD in hers tonight :)
At least your eating healthy options whilst your having food cravings :)

Thank you so much, guys! I have been having a problem with late night eating again and am resolving to get that under control. Also, the fruit & nut mix that has been sitting on the kitchen island has presented more of a temptation than I can handle, apparently. Since DH doesn't want me to bring it to the office, I put it up in the cabinet that has my lime green "WISH" ornament hanging from the knob. I am going to remind myself that wishing is not going to take the pounds off and I MUST be good these next 3+ weeks before the marathon.

I was away at a seminar all day yesterday and here is what I ate:
B: coffee w/skim milk; banana
L: garden salad w/ff dressing; leftover whole wheat pasta w/ff cheeses (lasagna substitute)

I do give myself credit for picking up McD's food for my daughter and her college roommate so that they didn't have to go scrounging for food while studying for exams, and only got myself a diet soda.

Then, I went to a WW meeting and found I was down 3 lbs, putting me back to where I was pre-Thanksgiving. Thank God!

Went shopping and resisted the food court.
Dinner was leftover diet coke chicken and broccoli. Afterwards, though, I hit the leftover "real" lasagna and ate the equivalent of 1/2 serving. I was also picking at nuts & craisins. I also ate 4 mini fat free pretzels. Needed crunch & salt.
Back on track today.

Food today:
B: apple, 2 hard-boiled egg whites
S: WW oatmeal (this isn't an approved core snack but it will keep me from eating anything I shouldn't until lunch)
L: leftover diet coke chicken; broccoli
S: green salad w/FF dressing

Planning to hit the gym tonight. Would like to think I could get in 6 miles before having to go home to eat.

Well done on losing the 3lb's :)
Food sounds pretty good, i dont think you over indulged that much!
hope you made the gym!
Have a great week :)
Tracey

Great job losing the 3 lbs!! :cheer2:  :cheer2: You are really doing well with your eating during this crazy season. Good idea to put the nut mix in the cabinet. I would not be able to have it in the house at all. :sad2:

Have a great rest of the week. :sunny:

Way to go on that 3lb weightloss!! :cheer2: :cheer2: That's fantastic, particularly at this time of year! Keep up the great work and have a terrific week.

Merry Christmas, Cam!

I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday! :)

I know that you are getting ready for the marathon..... Please know we are cheering you on from here in Ohio!

Hope you have a great week!

Though I haven't taken the time to post lately, I wanted to do this today to thank all my WISH buddies who have supported me through this year. I wish I were further along with my weight loss efforts as I end the year, but keeping off the 65+ pounds I've lost and just going up and down in a 3-4 pound range is an achievement in itself for me. More importantly, I appreciate that the accountability and friendship and support I have found here has kept me on track with my exercise (even if I have no discipline where food is concerned).
My goals for 2007 are a bit extreme, but I can at least set them so that I have something to work for.
1. Earn that Mickey medal at the 2007 Marathon next weekend
2. Become a "runner" with the goal of improving my Minnie Marathon time significantly for this May, and the ultimate goal of running the 2008 WDW 1/2 marathon.
3. Lose 20 pounds by the Minnie Marathon in May and another 15 before the 1/2 marathon next January.
4. Really get my nighttime eating under control and make that a way of life.
5. Journal everything I eat and post here more.
6. Stay in better touch with my WISH friends and be a better friend to the people who touch my life.

I will be away the next couple days and might not get to post for New Years, so I really did want to take this opportunity to say all those things and to WISH my DIS friends all of God's blessings in 2007.

Holy Cow Cam!
