Has anyone used a tent? My sister, niece and my 2 little boys want to go to Fort Wilderness, but we do not have a TT. I wanted to know if it would be a bad idea to try to go with just tents. Any thoughts? Thanks.

We went tent camping last October for 11 nights and loved it. I didn't know if I would be able to last that long in a tent but it was great. There is so much to do that all you do at your tent site is sleep. The only concerns I would have is rain or heat. When we were there it was bearable at night to sleep. We didn't see any major rain either.

We've tent camped a lot at FW! We love it! We sleep on air mattresses to make it a little more comfortable, and we always bring our screen tent to give us a place to get out of the rain. We set it up over the picnic table, and keep the coolers, stove, etc. in there.

I think you'd have a great time! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I always tent camp at Ft. Wilderness in December!! I have a great time and the camp ground is great!!

Definitely bring some type of shelter besides your tent, so you can sit in your chairs in the shade/out of the rain.

we've done van and tent and either is fine but if you are coming in Jan or Dec bring plenty of warm blankets or a very warm sleeping bag just in case it's cold. we bring both so we can shed / pile on as needed. once it was 32 at might brrrrr.
