Camping question.Can I just go to Disney and pitch a tent?

Some of you may think this is a silly question but I need to ask it anyway.If I pay for a cabin at fort wilderness and pay the extra for say my DH to just pitch a tent so that he gets all the benefits of staying on Disney preperty without being in our cabin as it only allows 6 and we are a family of 7,could we do that?
As far as they are concern can he just get off the plain,jump on the disney express,check in with a sleeping bag and sleep in our cabin without anyone stopping him?
I know this may seem alittle sneaky but we don't fit anywhere other then 2 rooms ,a suite$$$,or a villa$$$$$ .We would just rather all be together and I know we would all fit just fine in a cabin.If someone who has stayed there could answer this question for me it would be most helpful.

Not sure exactly if I understand your question, but if DH wants to camp in a tent, I think you will need a campsite. A site allows up to 10 people, which means you all could stay on the campsite.

No,we want to stay in a cabin but they post no more then 6 are allowed to booked in one cabin.So what I am trying to find out is....We have no camper,no RV, no nothing.We want to book me and the 5 children in a cabin and book my DH for a campsite but he would actually be staying in the cabin,so the question is would they exspect him to have anything other then a sleeping bag?I know it seems crazy but like I said we just want to be all together .If worse comes to worse it will back to 2 rooms at the values but I thought this was worth a try.

How old are your children? If one is under three and can sleep in a crib, all of you would be allowed to stay in the cabin.

From what I have read the cabins will be a very tight fit and booking for a campsite in addition would be expensive. It would be more cost effective if you got a suite at an extended stay or get one of the Disney Villas..they won't allow hubby just to roll out a tent and bag next to the cabin...and only one car allowed...if camping is in the heart for all of you buy a bigger tent....the kids will love it!...take a crock pot and Mom will love it more lol and make life oh so much easier!!!good luck!

I also things will be questioned if there is no camping equipment set up on the campsite. There are castmembers who "patrol" the loops, collecting garbage, cleaning the comfort stations, etc. They have lists of what sites are occupied and I think there may be some questions if the site is taken but unoccupied.

I also agree that the cabins will be a very tight fit for 7. We stayed in them with 6 once (DH and I, our two kids and my parents) and it was...ummm...cozy. If you do two rooms at the values you won't have the kitchen but you will have two bathrooms which would be nice. I guess its a trade-off.

Using regular season rates and no tax:

Cabin: $279
Camp site: $55
Value: $99

It would be much cheaper to get two values ($198) than the cabin and camp site ($334).

Yes but they only allow for 6 also.
The main reason I was considering the cabins in because they are the cheapest way to go that provides a kitchen so I could just cook and save alittle money on food.

Did you see my example? The difference is $136 + tax. That is a great deal of CS food at WDW per day.

A value resorts - All-Stars (Music, Movies and Sports) or Pop Century. They are the least expensive WDW resorts that can sleep up to four people plus one under 3 per room. The rooms have 2 full size beds and the room is 260 sq. feet. So two value rooms would be four beds, two bathroom and 520 sq. feet.

Two connecting rooms at a Value resort would be your best bet! You'll save enough on the rooms to pay for your meals, if you eat at the less-expensive counter service restaurants. The Value resorts also have food courts geared towards families, with pretty reasonable prices. They also have toasters and microwaves for people to use with their own food.

Here's my 2 cents...
As it was said before this is sneaky but if any of your children are under 3 because they get in the parks for free anyway you could just book you, your dh and 4 kids and bring a portable crib (or request a crib when you book). The 2nd option is book 2 rooms at the value resorts ask for a room with a fridge and bring a microwave or one of those of electric burners to cook or bring a microwave and burner both and cook your meals in the room. The 3rd option is go to Wally World get a big tent (or 2) and camp at the fort. The campground has nice bathrooms/showers and washer/dryers. Another alternative would be stay to stay off-site. The Days Inn/Suites (I think its outside the east gate but not for sure). Their suites have 2 full beds, kitchenette, sofabed and you can request a crib for a little child. Hope these options are helpful.

I love the cabins but I think it was a bit cramped when we took my mom with us. That made a total of four, me, dh, ds, and mom. With only ONE bathroom!

Go for the two value rooms and bring a cooler. Cereal, lunchmeat, peanut butter,chips and salsa with sour cream (yum) I think you can use the food court's micro and toaster with your own food so - toast, soup, oatmeal etc. I think this will be much more comfy for the seven of you. Have a nice trip.

WELL THE MESSAGE I AM GETTING HERE IS THAT THE CABINS ARE SMALL,SMALL,SMALL.i GUESS IT WILL HAVE TO BE THE VALUES FOR US AS ALL MY CHILDREN ARE OLDER.16,15,14,12,AND 9 SO THE CRIB THING IS OUT AND I SUPPOSE WE WOULD BE GOING ALITTLE MAD WITH ONLY ONE BATHROOM.THANKS YOU FOR ALL THE INSIGHT .I KNEW I'D GET THE ANSWERS I DIDN'T HERE.

Here's a thought, would any of the older kids like to actually try tent camping? Maybe you could rent a tent from Disney and the 3 older ones could sleep out there, but use the cabin during the day and hanging out/eating there at night but actually just sleep in the tent for the night? Not sure when you are actually going as far as how the temps would be at night in a tent, etc.

That is a great idea, if you are willing to pay. Your kids can get a sence of "freedom" and you can still stay at the best resort on all of the property. Maybe I am a little biast. I have never actually stayed at any deluxe resorts. Don't rent a tent though. Go to walmart, target, or somewhere like that and buy a tent. They both carry reliable tents. The only thing is, I think that they cabins and tent sites are pretty far apart, wait, let me look at my map. From what i can tell they are. But you and your kids may like that. (hahahhahahaha). I have a child, please don't take offense.
