i got a tent for christmas and want to know if there are any good great campgrounds in the area..

We've tented the past 2 summers at Anaheim Harbour RV Park. It's right beside a Day's Inn. They only have 3 small tent sites. (fits 2 tents comfortably.) It was around $40/night plus taxes. The ART stops a the bus stop a couple minute walk either side of it.
The RV park across the street, name unknown to me, also has 10 or so tent sites, just from looking at their map, I never checked it out.

This past summer we get back to the site on our last night & my son says ' Mom isn't that the same family that was here last year when we were here?' Sure enough it was so that was kinda cool running into them again.

I think theres another place with tent sites a few minutes farther & still on the ART route, or maybe it just rv's.

You know, we checked into the tent thing for DL but found it was almost as $$$ as staying at the HoJo for the Ent Rate. Seriously, after fees it was about a $10-15 difference. So, instead we will just do the HoJo at the Ent Rate and have a real bed and a shower and toilet right next to said bed. LOL I love to tent camp, but not at DL.

There is decent camping down at Dana Point, and you might also check into Newport Dunes. :)

That's a pretty monster sized tent. I think the other people we knew from last year a a huge tent - there were the parents and 3 kids in it. You could always email the rv park and ask them. It's not really sites more like a small backyard with grass, bbq to use,a picnic table and patio umbrella with 2 louge chairs.
OT the last night we sitting around yapping and saw a possum on the fence. First time I'd ever seen one so we thought it was pretty cool. No possums here in wintery Calgary.

I agree you could likely stay in a motel for close to the same price but ... I like tenting, we use air mattresses, the weather is perfect and my son doesn't get to watch tv. We pretty much get up, shower, go, come back & go to sleep.

If you wanted to go to San Diego the KOA there will definitely hold your tent. It's a beatuiful campground, we've stayed there the past 8 years.
