My Mom is coming over to babysit while DH & I go camping thrus. night in lancaster, PA. I just checked the forcast & it's showing scattered T-storms both thurs, & Fri. We'll be camping in a tent. We can't change the dates. We won't both have two days off together again for a very long time. It's too late to cx our reservations anyways. I guess we'll just have to brave the storm. Just the 2 of us, snuggled up in a sleeping bag. :) If it gets too bad we can always sleep in the van. :)

If anyone knows a "no rain" dance, please feel free to give it a shot. :)

Your situation reminded me of something from years back. DH and I rode motorcycles to Myrtle Beach one summer with another couple and camped on the beach. Pitched a large tent where it was deemed "safe" by the campground and hadn't a care in the world. In the wee hours of the morning, the roar from the ocean woke us up.....a loud thundering sound. We discovered lots of water in the tent and everything floating. We were on our way out to sea!!! Thankfully the noise woke us! So..... you're camping in a storm eh??? :scratchin

Hope your tent is recently water proofed. If it's not and
you have one more dry day-you might want to seal the seams.
Also-take an instant inflatable queen sized air mattress to keep
you off the ground. A ground cloth cut to exactly one inch less
than the shape of your tent all around could help too. One inch
less and not sticking out at all anywhere once your tent is up.
I've camped in the rain more than I'd like to remember. One
famous trip, the ground under our tent was so wet, it rolled
like waves when we stepped on it-the ground cloth kept us
dry. I've also stepped out into water up to my ankles and been
dry inside the tent. I love laying in the tent listening to the
rain! Once, it was raining so badly, we abandoned our tent,
drove home and went back a day later to get everything. I
was afraid of flash flooding as we were in a rock valley beside
a small stream. Have fun!

watching the news carefully here too. Seeing storms for both Th & Sat late afternoon/nights.
DS & I are camping Thurs-Mon but we'll be in a cabin

Good luck - lets hope the storms are over quickly

Our first camping trip together was a couple of months after we were married. We borrowed a small tent and took off. We camped at Lake George, NY and had a great time. The first night it rained - hard, everything was soaked.

DH took the tent, pinned it on the clothes line and let it dry out for the day. I'll never forget it.
