Camping impressions

Hello, wondering what the impressions are for tent camping at WDW. Facilities/etc... Thanks!

We went in October so we didnt have to contend with bugs or worry about enough shade but we thought it was wonderful. Nice large LEVEL pads with plenty of room for our tent (coleman instant tent 8) and our 10 X 10 screen room. Each pad is different so that may not work for us some time but this time was fine.
comfort stations very clean. could have used an outlet in the sink area, or one that worked but very nice anyway.

Our only complaint was the first night we were backed up to the bus station and right next to the comfort station, the side with the ice machine. The light off the comfort station was so bright I could read in my tent and the bus beeped and 'gassed' half the night. Then mousekeeping came around at about 2:47am and was very loud. I think any one of the three noises, bus, workers, or ice machine would have been tolerable but all three was too much and we moved across the road after the first night.

Like everyone else we cannot wait to go back.

There's no nicer campground than the Fort, flynnblu.

It's more expensive than your typical state park so you have to set expectations appropriately.

Its amazing. The bathhouses are top of the line. It feels very safe as well as magical It is an oasis within a very busy world.

There is no better campground by way of facilities, cleanliness, etc. We've camped all over the US in tents and pop ups and even though the Fort is more expensive, we never even think twice about it.

To put that in perspective, I will continually hunt rental cars/hotels/flights to get the cheapest rate I can. But the Fort is The Fort.

My husband loves to camp and me not so much so we compromise and go camping at Disney. It is really tent camping in a beautiful environment without the fears you get (or maybe I just get) at other campgrounds. The bathrooms are very clean. We had such a great time last time we camped there we will be back in 10 days. Overall it was a great experience, this coming from someone who is not a big camper and would rather a hotel room.

You won't find a better camping experience anywhere. Nice, peaceful, convenient. We love camping at Disney.

My DW and I believe that Fort Wilderness is the Diamond standard for campgrounds and is the standard that other campgrounds aspire to be (but fall short in attainment).

1) the sites are kept immaculate, the utilities function properly, and there is sufficient privacy maintained between neighbors.

2) the comfort stations are well maintained and also kept immaculate

3) Fort Wilderness guests have the exact same rights and accesses as other Walt Disney Resort guests staying in much more expensive hotels on property.

4) activities located within the Fort are far more extensive than other campgrounds. Activities such as Archery, Swimming, Nightly movies, marshmellow/hot dog roasts, Character sing alongs, Hot tubs, Basketball, Horseback riding, Boating, Fishing, and a white sand beach.

5) The vast majority of Fort campers believe strongly in the observance of quiet hours and have a genuine caring for neighbors....more so than I have found anywhere else.

For us, these points have been demonstrated consistently at the Fort over the last 15 years that we have been camping there as a couple (actually since 1971)...not many campgrounds can make that claim. Despite being in the middle of the most visited vacation destinations in the world (visitors are measured in the millions every year), it is the most relaxing location I have ever found.

Again, this is our personal impression...give it a chance and who knows, you may discover (like many of us on the board) that we plan our next Fort vacation before we depart our current one!
