Hello! I just found this board & thought it would be a good place to ask about the Campfire. DS and I will not be doing any parks on our arrival day so I thought this would be a fun option. We are staying at POP so we would take the bus to the MK and the boat to Fort Wilderness. How long of a walk is it to the Campfire from the boat doc? 1/2 mile? Mile? It is hard for me to gage on the resort map!

Also in August, what time traditionally has it started? I assume the s'mores and Chip and Dale Meet & Greet are before the movie? Depending on the movie, we may not stay.

Thank you all for any insight and advice! Some day I hope to stay at the cabins and cannot wait to walk around there!

It's a great option for that first day! There will be a movie sticky at the top of the board for August just before the month begins that will tell you what movie is playing when, so check back! It isn't far to the campfire from the dock, I'm sure you can walk it, but you can also take an internal bus. The orange line should get you there!:goodvibes

Thank you! I will make a note about the orange bus. :goodvibes

Do you know what time things would get started in August?

Hi :)
~It is no more than 1/2 mile to the campfire program. I don't even think it's that far but I couldn't be sure of that. There are interior buses you could take if you don't want to walk. If it's a nice night though, I think you would enjoy the walk and it would probably be faster.

~The movies for the month are posted in a sticky on this board. I'm not sure if the movie times are listed as well. It's typically around dusk. You could always call FW that week to find out the movie times. About 1/2 hour before the movie there is a sing-along. Americana type of music. Chip and Dale come out and greet everyone and pose for pictures. There are two campfires burning on either side of the seating area. You can do your s'mores at any time during the sing-along/movie.

~ If it isn't a movie you really want to see that night, you could check out the sing-along and visit Chip and Dale and then make your way back to the beach. You can see the fireworks from MK there as well as the Electric Water Pagent. Depending on the movie/fireworks time you could check out the settlement trading post. There are souveniers and ice cream. My kids loved the mickey ears kind. There is a nice little park by the beach too.

I had forgotten about theh Water Pagent! We saw it from the Poly beach several years ago. That would be a nice thing to do on our first night!

Thank you so much for the info! I think this is now on our must do list!
