Hey Folks
We have stayed at FW once with another trip on the horizon for Feb 2026. We are also in the market to purchase a 5th wheel we hope sooner than later.
Can someone tell me what is the maximum length camper that will fit at the Fort?

The answer is 'yes', @jimmytammy. But I know that's not EXACTLY what you're asking. :teeth:

<jk>. Like all things in life, the answer is, "it depends".

There are campsites that can accommodate the longest 5er you can find. And of course, the campsite CATEGORY that best will fit long trailers are the Premium and Premium Meadows categories (essentially the same but the more pricey Meadows sites are nearest the main Pool and Meadow Trading Post area). However, even in those categories, some sites are better than others (easier to back into, no obstructions in the rear just off the pavement (trees, stumps, etc).

Folks like to reserve less expensive sites for a camper like the Preferred and Full campsites and the same rules apply: however, many (not most) sites will accommodate the longest trailers but not all.

What we recommend doing is if you have a long(er) trailer and are wanting to fit in a small(er) category campsite, ALWAYS ask the CM to add the length of your trailer as a note to your reservation (if phoning in a reservation). If making a reservation on-line, get the reservation made then call back in the days/weeks after to get that note added ("we have a 44' 5th wheel plus a tow vehicle).

The CM's at the Fort are very good about seeing those notes and making changes behind the scenes before you arrive to try to make sure that you end up with a site that will fit you. I always call and request a specific loop (in the category I reserved) and I've gotten that loop MANY times (and when I didn't, I rode thru it after checking in and, sure enough, there were no empties - so the CM's really do try to accommodate you).

Of course, if you have a smaller 5er and can fit just about anywhere, sometimes it's a little exciting to see what loop and what site you end up with.

You'll like a February stay at the Fort. IMO that's the BEST weather month to camp - sunny days and cool, clear nights. Of course, the rates reflect the fact it's a wonderful month to camp.

Help the Fort staff help you by giving them the length of your trailer before you arrive and let them work their magic. The pixie dust is real.

PS - or, like me, always add a note to your reservation on every stay regardless of what loop or category you want.

PPS - It's always an adventure getting backed into your assigned campsite. And to keep this reply light-hearted, I will add that it can also draw a crowd.

We are probably looking at 40 to 42 ft
Site 402 is 80+ ft deep and there are sites close to that size in other loops. As Bama Ed said they usually do their best to fit your rig to the site. We had a 40 ft and never had any issues, but again as he mentioned some can be a bit challenging backing into.

I got placed in 201 (right in front of the 100/200 Comfort Station) with my Aliner and barely had enough room for the trailer and my Suburban tow vehicle. Not much "tent" pad (overhang distance) behind the pavement (like my neighbor to the left in the picture had).

Photos from March 2016 in site 201:

We were only in 201 for 1 night because although I had requested 100 loop, someone in 100 extended their existing stay so I told the check-in folks I would take 200 for 1 night but wanted to move to 100 after those guests left. Which we did.

Interesting factoid: That was also the time that the Fort WIFI system cut over to guest use from the old cable modem check-out method which I, like many before me, paired with a travel wifi router to have campsite walk-around wireless connectivity. When I checked in, wifi was not yet available so I got the cable modem (blue cable into the back in the pic below) and paired it with a travel router (green light) to have wireless access around my campsite.

After we moved to 100 loop, the WIFI went live for guests (we were the LAST resort to get free wifi - the red headed step-children of WDW).

But yes, don't worry about length of camper allowed at FW in your buying decision. Whatever length you get, give Disney plenty of lead time with the note on your reservation, and it generally works out.

I have been able to fit into pretty much any site I been assigned with both of our 42' 5th wheels. I have manged preferred, full hookup and premium sites. Out of all the sites I been given, only once did I need to call Disney front desk to be moved. It was a site in the 300 loop that had a tree that made it impossible to fit deep enough into the site to even part a golf cart in front of the RV. Disney happilly moved me to another site.....331 which I think made it the 3rd time I got that site in a row.

All great advice.

The only thing I'll add that many of us do... The check in CMs have a book that lists site dimensions. I try to arrive early before text notices have gone out and many have arrived (generally before 9am). At check in, I ask for an available (or will be available) site that I fit on. I can often get in the loop I want regardless of what the system has assigned.
