Camper Awnings

We can't wait for our trip to FW in Nov, time to get the camper ready before the bad Chicago weather sets in. We inherited a pop-up that does not have an awning. It does seem to have the slot that you slide one into. My question is, is that a standard sized slot? Can I get any awning that is the correct length for my camper?

Can you give us more info about your Popup. Type,Size Ect.

10 or 11 foot Rockwood. I think it is a 1987 or 1988. Sleeps 8. I'm not sure what size the awning slide is.

Camping World has a hole line of awnings for popups. You just need the awning slide size. You can order it by phone or Internet.You also check your loc. pupup dealers also.

Or you could try to find an RV 'Boneyard'. They aren't near as common as auto salvage yards, but they do exist. We have one in Northern Indiana. Try an Internet search, local phone book (be sure to check business to business) or ask around at your favorite RV dealership. Good luck!

P.S. What about making your own out of a good quality tarp or setting up a shade or dining canopy with one side butted up against your pop up. I think you'll find that an awning, new or used, will be quite expensive.

They sell portable, self-supporting canopies that are easy to set up at walmart, target, etc. Some have screen sides, which might be nice. They run about $100 and they usually fold into a bag.

You can see some at walmart.com. My local store did not sell any of them, btw. Just one 10x10 folding canopy.
