Camp fire at your site?

I have read on here that traditional camp fires are not allowed at the camping sites, but I was wondering if we could have one of the little portable gas powered camp fires, or are they banned as well.
We were looking at one at our local Camping World for $125, called "Little Red", I thought it would be really cute and handy to have, but if we can't use it, no sense in buying it. :confused3
Also if these are allowed, has anyone else got one, and is it a good quality product.
We plan on taking the kids to the Chip and Dale Camp fire a few nights, but this would be great for me and DH to sit around and have a few beers after the kids go to bed. :cloud9:
Any info would be greatly appreciated. :thumbsup2

I would call to find out but I would assume since it is gas and there would be no embers given off, it would be acceptable. Really it is not much different from a gas grill.

Nope, the rue is no open flame. TiKi torches are also banned.

Florida is once again under severe drought conditions & the wild fires are popping up all over the place. Fires are totally banned in most counties right now - therefore, FtW has probably banned them, too.

I remember the first time we camped at FW we thought we were really gonna miss having campfires every night. The truth is we don't seem to miss it when we are there. Some nights we go up to the campfire program but usually we just go for walks on the beach and then we end up at the Meadows for coffee on the porch in a rocker.

I thought the same thing about missing the traditional camp fire. But the truth is there are so many more things to do that we never even think about it. Besides by the time we return from where ever we spent the day it is to late to start one anyway. A good camp fire takes time to mature into something worth sitting by.

Yea, if you can't have the real deal with logs and all, it's not worth it. We spent our evenings watching fireworks, at the revue, cruising in the cart, and enjoying our special late night hours for property guests during the holidays. We didn't even get a chance to get to the group campfire last trip. You'll end being so busy, you'll be too tired to start one.
:goofy:

Just for all campers from out of state.....

Florida is a "tinder box", and has been since late 2005. THAT's the reason no open fires are allowed.

If you have a fire pit with a cover, that's okay....but no open fires are allowed anywhere in Florida right now. Even on private property.

At other campgrounds we have a fire every night. At the Fort there just doesn't seem to be enough time. We always go over to the big one a few times. Otherwise we go looping a lot at night. And DH takes the taxi golf cart out to the marina and drives the tired folks back to their campsites. :lmao:

First let me say hello, I'm new to this site, I "converted" from that "other" site because this one has so much more information and so many friendly folks. I bought the "Little Red" and we use it very little, only when my DD allergies are acting up and burning real wood would make them worse or when we go camping up north during the winter (it puts out alot of heat and uses as much propane). Unless you have a specific reason for purchasing it, save your money for another trip to the Fort!!:thumbsup2

Thanks you all, think I'll just save the money and rent a GC a few days!:thumbsup2
