We are thinking about bringing our DSLR but
1 don't feel like carrying it around all day
2. what do you do when you go on rides
3. what do you do on water rides?
looking for some ideas
thanks

In 2012 I had just the regular sling bag for my dslr and it cut the heck out of my neck. That said, I asked for a dslr backpack for Christmas after that trip and I used it on my trip in 2014 and it was great. All my gear was in the bottom, padded portion of the pack and I even had an open zippered area above it to carry other items (ponchos, water bottles, sunblock, souvies, etc). Also, there are 2 snap locks on the bottom and I took my tripod with me to EPCOT when I photographed Illuminations!
All that said, with the backpack I have, it served numerous uses other than housing my camera when not in use.
When I went on rides, I looked at what ride it was and made a decision in line what I was doing with it. Test Track, it was in my backpack which was on the floor of the car with my leg through the straps. Little Mermaid, I had it hanging around my neck from the strap.
For water rides, I'm not big on water rides, but Pirates in particular I'll do. I just do like some others have said and when I'm in the ship room with the cannon's going off (as well as the drop) I put my camera under my shirt to keep it from getting wet. If you're going on bigger, wetter, water rides, you may want to consider just putting it in your bag or leaving it with someone in your party who isn't going on the ride (if there is anyone).
If you go to bhphotovideo, cameta camera, adorama and many other credible camera shop sites (even Amazon.com) they have all different types of sling holsters and stuff so that you have your camera on you, but not in traditional tourist fashion, yet, it's still protected.
Hope this helps!
