I can't bear to leave my D7000 behind so it remains my WDW camera of choice with my iPhone for unexpected shots when the big boy is put away and things that might involve more than a trace of water.
I have an Op-Tech harness that saved my aching neck and shoulders. It looks a bit dorky but distributes the weight of the camera well. I also like that it keeps the camera close to my body - I never liked the swinginess of a strap. I tried the Black Rapid strap because it has such rave reviews but it just freaked me out as I was always afraid my camera would somehow detach and crash to the ground.
I will say that I used to be quite unhappy dealing with a big camera at WDW with both the current camera and its predecessor. I spent too much time worrying about protecting it, complaining about lugging it and an extra lens or two around, etc. It was just too much trouble and all I wanted was a small pocket camera. Then I got on a kick where I took the camera everywhere. I rarely leave the house without it so it basically lives in a neoprene case in a corner of my everyday bag. I don't worry about it breaking, I'm used to the extra weight, and I love it to pieces. And it is joyful to have it at my favorite place in the World.
