Hey everyone! I am a camera newbie of the highest magnitude. I currently have one of the Kodak Easy Share cameras and it's ok. My problem is the awful pics I get in low light or at night. I'm looking to upgrade before my trip to Disney in December. I really want a model that takes great shots of landscapes but can deliver at night (I live in NYC and it's drivin me nuts not being able to take night shots). Any suggestions?

Every point-n-shoot digital camera out there today suffers mightily in low light. Some are somewhat better than others, but if you're really hoping for great low-light performance, you're not going to find it without going to a DSLR.

That being said, what's your current camera (exact model)? Knowing what you find unacceptable now can help determine if you'll be happy with a newer one.

Sorry, more information would have been useful. I have the Kodak CX740. I love the color and clarity of my shots during the day but even on the nighttime setting my shots turn out blurry or dark.

Given my relative beginner status, do you think that the Fuji Finepix S6000fd is too much camera for a beginner? Does anyone have this particular camera and does it deliver decent night shots?

You can try Canon S3 IS. This is an nice point and shoot camera...good for amateurs as well as professional photgraphers. And a recent deal for it is $297 instead of $350. You can check it out by searching "Canon S3" at dealstudio.com. Hope this helps.

from my understanding, it is a bridge camera, which means you can use it as a P&S as well as have some creative control as you learn, plus it has one of the largest sensors of a P&S available, thereby giving it one of the best low light performances of P&s cameras. But that is all second hand stuff as I have never played with one.

I have the fuji s6000FD and love it! It takes in my opinion very nice night and low light photos. It is simple to use. For the price you get a lot of bang for your buck.
