Hmm...I was good at Tetris back in the day, so I SHOULD be able to make this fit. :)

Have you considered the 200? I thought I was pretty good at Tetris too (I thought that was a distraction--I probably would have flunked out of law school if I'd discovered internet message boards back then :rotfl2: ). Anyway I had to step up to the 200. I have a D70 and 3 lenses (18-70, 55-200 and a 50 mm). IIRC, I could squeeze all that into the 100, but it seemed that if I upgraded to a larger zoom or got a speedlight, I'd be out of luck. I prefer a smaller bag, but I also seem to prefer a lot of stuff, so something's gotta give.

I did look at it, but I ended up buying the 100. Know anyone that wants to buy one? :) I'm now in the same boat as you.

Hope that link works! I'm trying to find a small, secure bag to carry my new S3 in...what do you think? Not sure if it's padded. Looks like it would have room for a few memory cards and some batteries...

Update--I ordered the bag and it came today. A very nice bag, but only the back is padded. It would be great for a daytrip, if you didn't want it to "protect" the camera. It's a little big for the Canon S3. For the price, I don't mind having it. I'm sure DH or I will put it to good use. I just ordered the Lowepro Mini top load...I'll see how that goes

I tried to carry on my aluminum monopod a few months ago and was denied. No problem having it or my CF tripod in my checked luggage.

I had been hoping to use the monopod to help film New Year's Eve fireworks, but I ended up sick and went back to our room at 9:30. :(

Officially, tripods and monopods are not on the TSA "no-fly" list, but nor are they mentioned as permitted items. I belong to an on-line community of pro-sports photographers. Many of them routinely fly to assignments with their equipment. Very few of them have reported problems with checking monopods or tripods. However, the TSA agents are free to add their own interpretation as to what you can, or can't take, on a plane when there's no official stance from the TSA itself. In all likelihood you will be able to carry on your tri or mono, but you'll need to be prepared for a Plan B in case you are turned away.

are you a SportsShooter member? [monty burns voice]excellent![/monty burns voice]

definitely have a plan b as i've been denied with my CF monopod at least 5 times last year alone (domestic - easy to dump it in the car and i put the aluminium on in the suitcase). i don't even try in the US. when i was there 2 weeks ago, they wouldn't let me fly with my aluminium external hard drive case - huh?!?!

Ahh, they must be part of the same branch of government as the IRS.

I bought this one http://www.amazon.com/Lowepro-Rezo-...526343?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1176766406&sr=1-11 . My S3 fits nicely in it. Plenty of room, but not so much that the camera moves around in it. I can fit my battery charger and 8 batteries in the front pocket, nice storage for memory cards inside.

Doesn't look like the one you are looking at has good padding. And the mesh back would worry me as moisture could get to the camera.

Hope this helps!

My wife has the Lowepro Edit 110. It's padded and will hold the S3 camera with room for a collapsable battery recharger or 4 extra batteries (separated by padded divider). It has pockets on both sides that could each hold a collapsable battery recharger or 4 extra batteries. There is a front pocket for several memory cards and small odd and ends. It has a removable shoulder strap and a belt loop as well.

The 110 looks good. I have one very similar, a generic one from Wal Mart. My S3 fits in it, but no matter which direction I turn it, it seems REALLY snug. I ended up ordering the bag in my OP last week; it was really cheap and I had other things to order anyway. I'll let you know how it is when it arrives and report back. If it doesn't have any padding, I may just have to order the 110.

Can anyone tell my how the S3 compares in size to the Nikon D50? The one Lowepro gets excellent reviews for storing the D50, but I am unfamiliar with this camera. TIA

They're fairly similar in size. I believe the S3 is a bit smaller, but you should be good either way. I'm actually selling my Lowepro Slingback 100, so if you're interested, PM me.

Thanks deletedpenguin, but I think the Slingshot is much bigger than what I am interested in... I appreciate the offer though! :thumbsup2
