Do you call MS or send an e-mail a week before arrival to make your requests again?

We will be arriving at BWV next Saturday and have requested a NS Boardwalk view. This is our first trip home and we'd really love to have the Boardwalk view. Any help appreciated.

If your requests have been noted on your written confirmation, calling or emailing MS is not needed- they already have the request.

Some advocate faxing the room controller at the resort 4-5 days prior to arrival. For DVC resorts, requests are supposed to be considered in the order in which they were received and faxed requests should hold no more weight than a request made 11 months earlier (or 2 weeks earlier).

Good Luck!

We made our request at exactly the 11 month window so I hope that works. We really do want to get the BW view for our first trip Home.

I can hardly wait! It seemed so far away and now it's almost here!! I'm sooo excited to be going Home and we are even planning to do an add on at VWL while we are there. Never too many points!:D

If you already have your requests noted on your reservation, there is no need to call member services. What you could do is early next week call or fax the Boardwalk room assigner (front desk), they are the ones who actually assign the rooms. They are supposed to assign the rooms by date of reservation, so I didn't call or fax on my first trip last year since I made the reservation right at 11 months with the BW view request. But we didn't get it and I wished I would have sent a fax, it wouldn't have hurt. I don't know if arriving at 3:00pm hurt us too. If they are pre-assigned it shouldn't matter, but I have my doubts about the way they do their assignments. When I complained about it, they offered to switch me later in my stay (with the change fee), if enough people do that it will throw off the priority for people who reserve early. They made the same offer to an OKW member friend who made reservations at 7 months.

Keep in mind that there are really a small % of BWV rooms with a BW view. At check-in , I'd put a BIG Disney smile on my face and let them know how much you'd really appreciate a BW view- as you had requested 11 months ago. Add your schmooziest[/i[ voice to the BIG smile. It sure can't hurt at all and will likely help, but don't be too disappointed if the view doesn't materialize, there are lots of great views from the BWV and the rooms are all the same regardless of view.

Enjoy!

Hhhmmm...we're heading to BWV in 8 days...prefered view...we better get practicing our schmoozying voices and great big Disney smiles. :D :D :D

If WHEN you make your reservation is the determining factor in getting a BW view, does that mean the non-BWV DVC owners barely have a shot at it??

In theory, it should mean exactly that! However, in practice, there are times of the year when the resort is easily available for reservations and requests at 7 months. Many members do not even make requests- or request standard view or "close to elevator" as their first request.

Requests are also filled based on their order- if you request close to the elevator and then BW view- they will try to fill the elevator part first and that may make the next request (view) unattainable. There are several factors which go into filling the request- not the least of which is what may be available at the time of your reservation.

DVC insists that they try to honor requests in the order in which they were made, but in practice, some changes are made by those who check in early or are able to schmooze at the front desk. After all........CM's are only human!

Enjoy! :)
