Calling stateroom to stateroom...

...is there a way to leave a message in a stateroom without the phone actually ringing in said stateroom? The reason I ask is that we are cruising with my parents who tend to be early risers and my mom said on some ships (we've never cruised DCL) you can leave messages (that way they can let us know their a.m. plans without calling and waking us if we are not up). If this is not possible, we will probably just use post-its on the door!

Don't know about the phone messages but I did discover on my trip that each room has a fish up next to the door. There is a little clip there to hold messages, etc. Before we left I made up stationary with the kids' names and pics of their favorite characters. They would use these to leave notes at their cousin's stateroom "fish".
