Calling MS gives me a headache!! Can someone answer a ?? about transfering points

I've called MS 4 times about this and have received 4 different answers. It really gives me a popsicle headache!!

I'm planning a Christmas 07' trip. It's a family trip so I need a LOT of points so I'm in the process of transferring points from other members.

There's a member that has 100 06' points and 100 07' points with a December use year. I called MS to find out on what date the member can transfer the points to me. They have told me everything from:

"they can transfer all their points to you today"
"they can only transfer 06 point now and need to wait until Dec. 1st to transfer 07' points"
"they can't transfer 07' points until Jan 1st 2007"
"they can't transfer 07' point until Dec. 1st 2007" - this one makes no sense at all.

It's really crazy. The rules seem to be so complicated that even MS doesn't know them. You get different interpretations from everyone there.

Can anyone help me??

Transfer points must go from Use Year to Use year.

So anyone transferring their 06 points will have to go into your 06 Use Year. 05 points may be transferred into your 05 Use Year (as long as that has not yet closed).

Just make sure you transfer point into the same Use Year they come from and you should be fine.

New MS-Advisors often are confused about this subject. Some feel that your use year must have actually started before they allow you to transfer.

It is exactly as WMD said, UY to UY. Another Owner could transfer their 2007 UY point into one of your 2007 UY accounts today, if you get an experienced MS-Advisor, I did this 2 days ago, took 2 calls to get an experienced advisor.

Likewise, you can transfer 2006 UY points from someone into your 2006 UY.

Remember transferred points can be banked forward one year, they can not be borrowed or re-transfered again.

Does it matter whether the Use Year month's match up? Do those points take on the transferee's UY month or keep the transferor's UY month?

Therein lies my problem. On the last call to MS I talked with a manager. Here was her explanation.

Since the other members use year is Dec. They are technically in their 05 use year. The computer system will only allow a rep to transfer points from a member's current use year and one use year in the future. In this case the member can only transfer points from 05 and 06. So they can transfer their 06 points to me but need to wait until Dec 1st (when they enter their 06 use year) to transfer their 07 points.

This seems like the best explanation I have received so far.

Yep- Sept, Oct and Dec are still in their 2005 Use Years and would need to wait until their 06 Use year begins to be able to transfer 2007 points.

So does this mean that in a sense a Dec use year is the best use year to have if you are looking to transfer points into your account? Sometimes people have points that are expiring that they are renting for a low amount.

Conversely I guess it would be the worst for transferring out since if you wait until the last minute nobody'll be able to take them.

Will add that when I last transferred points in (this Feb.) I was cautioned by 2 different MS CMs that the UY had to match my own or "be better" i.e. earlier than my own - Oct...in order to take advantage of the 11 month booking window @ my home resort.

They also indicated that if I was looking for home field advantage @ the resort I was transferring points in from, it could take several days to do a "manual" pull & verify where the points came from before I could book 11 months out.
