I agree, his guide is great. I recommend it to all newbies."

(I know there is a way to make it look like a quote but I cannot figure out how you guys do that.)

Jan Disney Cruise Lines does offer a family reunion special. Disney Reunion DCL does charge for the uses of a meeting room.

Karen Oriental Trading Co. sells leis by the doz. but in assorted colors. I ordered Halloween T-Shirts from Ray so everyone will know that we are Magic Halloweenie Cruisers.
I have 2 boxes going one for our stay at WDW and one for the cruise. I am tring to keep a limit on things but it's steady growing.

I should be able to get green leis from my work. Ours come in assorted colors like OTC but I think I can manage to get some green ones only. They are not lime green but I think they only make them in regular green. Close enough. Patty:earsgirl:

Howdy gang!!! The weekend is here!!! Yippee!!!

UpNorth is about 5 hours north of Detroit, Michigan. It is a map dot on I-75 about an hour and a half south of Canada.

We are getting ready for company and Alpenfest in our little Alpine village. Check out

http://www.gaylordchamber.com/event-detail7.html

to see what we will be doing next week. It is always fun!

And our food is fudge. Probaly won't make the flight all the way south. So, I will have to come up with something else. Maybe dried cherries.....

Then after that we head to OshKosh for a week to go to the 50th annual EAA Air show. (Well, us and about 200,000 other pilot geek types. :) )

So...will talk to you when we return!

Hope you have a great time sounds like lots of fun.
We should be able to be at the pool at 7 PM on the 25th. I will also see what I can find in the green lei category. Too bad Minnie ears only come with red polka dot bows. We also have the cruise shirts. They are really neat. I have a sneaking feeling that traffic on the way to the Cape on a Friday could be awful. I have a friend who has done a fair amount of cruising with her family and I will ask her if she has noticed what the traffic is like. It might not be too bad if there are no sailings and no shuttle launches. I am still working on the TorT ideas, Jan and I are emailing our thoughts back and forth. I am beginning to get more excited. Of course we have another vacation first to look forward to. Off to work now. Estelle

KAREN: I found Gaylord on the map and read the Alpinfest website. $2 for a pin for all you can eat food? WOW!

Sounds like Alpine costumes would work for Halloween.

My son and his buddy attended and then worked at Spring Hill Camp in Evart a couple summers. I wondered if you lived near there, but you are way on past. We drove I-75 in 1993 on our around the country trip to get the last of the 48 contiguous states before our older son graduated from High School. Lots of interesting signs about things to see and do, but we had deadlines to meet so could not stop much.

In Valparaiso there is a fellow with a collection of old planes. I wonder if he goes to Oshkosh with any of them. We have friends from Virginia who go often.

ALL: Has anyone heard from Emma? I hope she is having a great time!

Have a great day!

Well, Im home! You guys have managed to post 4 pages in a week! I've had a phonomenal time and I'm seriously hoping we do another choir holiday next year (our teacher seems rather tempted). St Marks was unbelievable, everybody has to see it and singing in there was awesome. We nearly got a standing ovation in there wich was rather unbelievable! The 2 outdoor concerts were lovely, the second one went better than the first but both places wanted an encore. We're recirding our cd on tuesday with a bit of luck so I'll bring that along with my photos on the cruise. The place we stayed in was really nice and nobody had any arguments at all! We did have a few problems on Monday cos the coach was late, 2 people weren't on the list to fly out there and had to catch a later flight and when we got to Italy the woiuldn't let Aki (who's Nigerian) into the country without a visa so he had to go home. We later found out he should have been let in so Mrs W is livid. Carmen in Verona was superb but it was from 9pm-1am and we didnt get back to the hotel till 4am (we had to be up for 6 and had packing to do!). The holiday has been just great, it's been like a big family holiday. I really hope we get to do another 1.

Emma - I'm so glad to hear you had a fabulous time. How did things go with your roommates? Patty
:earsgirl:

See Emma all that worry for nothing. Really glad you had such a wonderful time.
:)

The rooms were fine, as it turned out, I spent more time hanging round with people I wouldn't have thought I would ever share a room with!

I was just reading the thread "When do you start packing." I had to laugh because I started putting my collection of goodies together last night. Since we'll be staying at OKW 5 nights before the cruise my box has things like Cling Wrap, Aluminum Foil, storage baggies, bath tub cleaner, air freshener, laundry detergent tablets, Scooby-Doo mac and cheese, cans of cream of coconut, pineapple juice, straws, ear water-drying drops, pain reliever, cold medications, just incase someone gets sick it's been known to happen. One good thing to have handy is Imodium AD we have been thankful for it in the past. Another good thing to have is Wet Ones, individually wrapped, there great to take on excursions. Storage baggies are real good too for collecting shell and other treasures. We carry a small soft cooler with us. It's come in handy on excursions for water or a snack from the ship. My DH uses it to tote his favorite beverages around the ship, perfect for a few hours at the pool. He puts a little ice in a storage baggie to keep it cold. Yes, we bring our own including a blender.
Now I am sure my list will continue to grow after all we still have 3 months to go.

So what's on your list?:D

I'm laughing because I read through that last night! I add Downy Wrinkle Release today, DS's costume arrived on Friday so it's in the box and I have a long mental list of things to look for between now and then to keep adding.

I will bring children's advil and some general medicines too - those Pepto Bismal chewables are great for issues in Mexico (lol)

We have soft-sided cooler but it's pretty big - I'll look for a smaller one. I have those little freezer packs that go in the freezer and stay cold for hours - do you know if that room cooler box/fridge is cold enough to freeze them? They are great for toting around. Maybe just sitting in the ice in the room overnight would be enough to keep them firm?

Ziplocs are my friend! I take them everywhere for everything - will have plenty on hand

We use the freeze packs at home but there is no way to freeze them on the ship. That's why DH uses the storage baggies filled with ice. I have Rolaids Ex-strenght in my box do you think that will help in Mexico?

EMMA: Glad everything went so well. Also what a nice serendipity that you had such a good time with the choir members you did not expect to hang around with. Life is like that. Thanks for the report.

KAREN: I do not eat fudge, but if you do want to try to bring some, I suggest using the method I used to get two personal sized Key Lime pies from Wolfgang Puck Express back to Indiana. I took a tuperware box with me from home that is about 2 inches deep by 8 by 6 (I am guessing here) and filled it with ice cubes from the hotel. I put that in the bottom of a soft fabric thermal bag which I put inside another thermal bag that my son used for his lunches when he worked at a Bethlehem Steel mill one summer. Then the pies went on top of the ice container. They made it from the hotel to the house just fine. (From a Disney Village hotel via hotel shuttle to the airport, then from Orlando to St. Louis with a layover of over an hour then to Chicago and a drive home of over an hour.) The thermal bag was one of my carry-ons. The other had my personal stuff and book to read and the rest of my things for the 10 day trip--land and sea and land again for a conference--were in the suitcase that I checked.

SIGN US UP FOR THE RADISSON GET-TOGETHER ON THE 25th. Tom and I were talking about it this morning before church and when we got home there was an e-mail from Ginger suggesting we do it as even if we drive down, as we plan, we would spend more for parking at the Port than we would spend at the Raddison for the Fall Special in the $59 room. The room sounds really nice. So I called and did the deed.

My CRUISE BAG has maps of the sky at night for finding stars and my book about the making of the MAGIC that I will have the Captain autograph if it is a different Captain than we had before. There is scotch tape too. I forget what all else.

People have been discussing the "refrigerators" on the ships and are disappointed that they do not get really cold. They are more like camping cooler chests than refrigerators. If you put cold things in, they will stay cold, but if you put in warm things, they take forever to get cold. That is why a lot of people put ice in zip locks to pack around their pop or whatever and later put it in the "frig". I suggest you leave those freezer packs home DEBBIE and rely on your room steward to keep you supplied with ice. Ours have always been good at that.

We have decided that the Cruise mugs are going to be our souvenirs so we will not be taking pop from home with us. We use our Disney Mugs daily for coffee or ice water around the house and in the cars. They are daily reminders of wonderful vacations and thus help us pass the time before the next one. Having CRUISE mugs will help with the fantasy that our patio out back is a VERANDA!! (We have never had a veranda on the ship--we have had Category 11 and 10 rooms and loved them.)

Just a reminder if your interested about watching tonight at 10:00 PM on the Travel Channel "World's Best Man-made Wonders". The making of the Disney ships is suppose to be featured on it.

Thanks for the ideas on what to bring on our trip. I jotted some things down. Up until now it's all been in my head. Last time I brought too much in footwear. My luggage weighted a ton! I'm going to try not to bring so much stuff. I always say that but it's so hard once you start packing.

We've got packed so far snorkles and masks, under water disposable cameras, those underwater-beach shoes and the Disney Halloween decorating kit. I found bringing a highlighter for marking things in the Navigators we didn't want to miss out on came in handy. I would look over the Navigator the night before, highlight what we were interested in and then we were all set for the next day. Patty :earsgirl:

If I didn't already say it Welcome HOme Emma! Sounds like a great trip.
Hey Jan, way to go see you on the 25th at the pool. I'll be the one waving and jumping up and down. Kidding just the wave will be enough. You know Phil, Jan the wave will be plenty.
I must be way behind everyone else. I haven't started putting things together. Although I did buy some Immodium AD and have the two Dis shirts and a new Disney shirt and shorts coming. I keep looking at things and thinking I need to remembe to bring that. I figure that the trip to New England will be a try out for October.
I think I am going to start carrying a notebook and jot down things as I think of them. Of course with my luck I won't have it with me when I need it.
Thats' all for now. Estelle

I use an organizer to keep track of my patients' appointments for work and other scheduled events. I also have some pages for phone numbers in the front that I have come to realize I need when away from home. In the back I have a list of Birthdays by month and who I want to send Christmas presents to so that if I find a perfect card or gift I can check to see if I have one already for that person.

I call this organizer my "brain". If it is not written in there, don't expect me to remember it.

I started a list in the "brain" a couple months ago of what to pack and what to look for when shopping at our ports of call. Since I take that "brain" with me everywhere I go (almost) I can add to the list when something pops into my head.

Then too, there is the red Mickey bag from the Disney Store on the floor of the closet with the star charts, scotch tape, etc.

Jan :earsgirl:

Oh my, we were all the way back on page 3!

We have decided to do the Jeep Tour at Cozumel, is anyone else thinking this? Also when can we book our excursions? I guess 60 days out is August 27 right?

Still working on costumes for our group. Mom now wants to go as May West (I have no clue who this is)

Anyone have any ideas for T or T? What should be handed out, all candy or just small what nots?

GoofyDisney-did you find all green leis? If not let me know I can help with the search.

Dan

We recorded our cd this evening and found out that we're almost definatly going on holiday with choir in 2 years and it might be Canada!
