Yes, Emma I had you in mind.
Our mailed confirmation of the cruise excursions arrived yesterday. So pretty soon I guess the good stuff will be arriving. Time is passing more quickly now. All the kids in the neighborhood are in school. So the place is very quiet. We have school aged kids on both sides of us so the summers tend to be on the noisy side.
The temp. went back up into the high 80s and once again no rain in sight. At least we got enough so that the back yards no longer resemble the Sahara.
Have ironing so will go and then work. Estelle

When did I say what a hoot?! Im confused (I know, I know, it doesn't take much!)

EMMA-glad you had a good day at school. We've been in for about 4 weeks! ERGH! It was fun, the second day of school our science teacher brought in a dead rattlesnake. It was gross, but the rattler was cool.

Here I go again, not knowing anything! Which CD are you getting? Sorry if you've posted it before!

MPAONE:Emma's right. The teen board is cool. I think your son will enjoy it.

No, its ok. I went on holiday to Venice with my choir about 7 weeks ago and we made a cd of all the songs we did during our trip. We get given them tomorrow. It's gonna be kinda strange to hear ourselves cos we've never actually done that before. It's gonna be great.

Dead Rattlesnake-EW!!! Did you check out the teen boards then? Absolute nonsense innit!

EMMA- Yes, I checked them out. I found them okay, but I got a teeny bit sick of seeing all the posts asking what your favorite this is or like so and so days til so and so's birthday. It was fun though. There were lots of COLORS!!!!!!

That is so cool about that CD. I've been in my school chorus for six years and we never do anything like that. The most exciting thing that we've ever done was sing "Cry" by Mandy Moore, and that was because we always sing either religious songs or show tunes. (I think I'm the only person who enjoys the show tunes.) We do do the occasional Disney songs, but sometimes we can get sick of them. You know, being in Florida and all. A few of us were going to try to get our director to let us sing Avril Lavigne, so we'll see how that goes.

You think the rattlesnake is bad, just wait til you find out what our first project is. We have to make our own bug collection. 50 bugs, we have to kill them and everything. GROSS!

The copies of the cd arent done yet but we listened to it today in choir and it is so cool! We also just found out that we're being entered in the National Youth Choir competition. Wahooooo! Definatly doing another trip in 2004 not a clue where to though.

EW! That is so gross! We have 3 diferent teachers for science (physics, chemistry and biology) and apparently our chem. teacher is really unreasonable. Ill let you know how it goes when we have him. Thankfully it isnt till Tuesday.

Sorry I've been MIA

Lynne: I have your email at home, but haven't had a chance to reply - love you idea on TorT - count me in, move forward, tell me what you want me to do to help.

I'm traveling a bit back and forth (in OK today) and we found a house here. We'll close on 11/5, the day after we get back from our trip (oh my!). We have a request for a seller's disclosure on our current house - would love to sell it around the same date to cut down on the confusion.

I am looking SO forward to this trip with everything we have going on - just hope I can pull the packing and such all together. I can believe we're down to less than 50 days! YIKES!!

Miss you all - I'll try to check in more often!

EMMA: I too thought you said "what a hoot" one time way back. But I am not going to read every post to find it. I know I say that some times, so maybe I wrote it in a conversation between the two of us and then Estelle thought you said it. Don't stress over it.

TINK: When we had to do a bug collection in school, I got a lot of jars with lids from my Mom. I went to the homeof one of the families where I baby sat a lot and asked if the kids could help me look for bugs in their backyard as they had a lot of bushes and weeds. I gave each kid a jar and told them to look for bugs. The two girls got it but Richard was about 3 and he did not have a clue. I told him to find me a bumble bee. Richard walked around saying "bum-mel-y, bum-mel-y, bum-mel-y" and all of a sudden "BUM-MEL-Y! BUM-MEL-Y!!" I ran over and sure enough, there it was.

Each time we found a bug, I opened the jar lid, put the jar over the leaf with the bug and put the lid on. Later I put a cotton ball that I had soaked in lighter fluid in each jar. Any insecticide would work I bet--Raid even. When they were dead, I mounted them on pins with little signs on each pin. We got the idea from how the insects were mounted at a museum and talked to a real insect specialist as to the "right" way to do it.

Emma had school in the summer when American kids are off. Then she had a vacation and now she is back. I have not figured out the schedule, but it is really different from American school schedules.

DEBBY: :Pinkbounc :bounce: Congrats on finding the new house!! Hoping the sale of the old one goes well!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Jan :earsgirl:

Jan - I read that thread yesterday and jotted down some of it in my notebook. Isn't there alot of great ideas! I'll have to look at that thread again to see if anything new was added to it since yesterday. Patty :earsgirl:

Jan--checked out the thread you highlighted a couple of posts ago. Can't wait to check out several of the areas. Of course I may miss the early ones. But I plan to try.
Estelle

I wasn't stressing, I probably did say it, I have phases when I use different phrases alot. At the moment it's fair enough. I still think bug collecting is disgusting but hey! Im going to Alton towers (big theme park) tomorrow as my friends party and then we're all sleeping over. Should be a really good laugh, we have to be at my friend's house for 7:40am though!

JAN: Thats pretty much how we have to do it, but instead of the insecticide we have to use non acetone nail polish remover. We even had to watch Mr. Wassinger kill a wasp. GROSS! I'd do the thing with the kids I baby sit, but they're only 1 and 2 years old. Too bad though, that would've been great!

EMMA: I think it's gross too. You're lucky you get to go to a party. I have my first basketball game tomorrow and our coach is crazy! The game's at 11 but we have to be there at 9! Usually it's only a half hour early. The schedule is horrible! Three practices a week and about 2 games a week. We even have a game on September 11th! (I think you know about that. If not don't worry)

ESTELLE: I may not check out the decks early in the morning when no one is up either unless I get an early morning insomnia :) from being so excited to be on the SHIP :Pinkbounc.

TINK: I just read an article about a forensic entomologist in Chicago and it tells about how insect investigation can be helpful in murder cases:rolleyes: Do you think it would be anything your teacher would want to read? Could you get any extra credit if I save it for you? If so, I could mail it now or bring it on the cruise. If you are not interested, I will recycle it.

PATTY: I just got the PM and replied about our excursion choices.

I have not been at the computer all day as I have been trying to get some Cabbage Patch Doll clothes knitted for a gift for a baby shower tomorrow. The Grandma--my friend--has saved the Cabbage Patch dolls of the Mom and wanted to give them to her at the shower, but she has no clothes for them. Several years ago when they were really popular, I designed some knitted and crocheted clothes for C.P. dolls and made them for gifts for a lot of children of friends. I pulled out the patterns and have been knitting non-stop for a couple weeks now. One outfit is done and on the doll. The other two--for the premie twins are over half done. The dress seams must be sewn up and loose ends woven in and now I am working on the booties. If I have enough yarn, and I think I will, I will make bonnets. I can knit while I read the threads and e-mail, but not when I type. I have been knitting since I was 5 but have not taught my toes to do it.

Jan :earsgirl:

What Jan you haven't figured out the knitting with the toes?
My costume for Halloween arrived today. Boy am I pschyed. Now things really seem to be moving. Of course I am going to be quite warm. But the family were impressed. Of course there were the usual comments about suitcases and the number that I am going to have to carry or drag.
So the eldest DD just got home and I have to show it off to her. Estelle

JAN: oh I would be so thrilled if you did! Every Tuesday we have to turn in a science article and I'm sure he'd be interested in that one! How bout you bring it on the cruise? That way I could use it for the week after the cruise. YIPEE!
