See you never know what goes on in ladies bathrooms.
I will have to see if along with all the other things I have to bring if I can find pictures of the cats and I'll try and slip a shot of the dog in to. Shouldn't be too tough since taking pictures of the animals is the traditional way of using up those last few pictures on the roll.
I assume every one has seen the two Disney movies about the Incredible Journey. I personally get a bang out of the cat.
I have to do some looking for some type of formal dress. Or a pattern for one. I know what I would like but have a feeling that since I am short it really won't look good on me. I think there is a tall willowy person inside this little short body. Oh well too late now.
Back to the laundry. Estelle

So many cat people. I did also have a dog but he died 6 years ago from cancer. The first two homeless cats we took in were a mother and her 7 week old kitten. My sister started feeding the mother, Dottie, who was living under the enclosed steps behind her apartment. One day she noticed a kitten peeking his head out of the opening. She wasn't allowed to have pets in her apartment and talked me into taking them in. I had never taken in a stray before and was hesitant. My sister insisted she was very friendly. I never regretted what I did. The kitten we named Mischief. The other homeless one my sister found was a 7 week old kitten wandering in the snow in January. She couldn't believe it and took him immediately inside. About a week later Scooter was home with us. He loves to sit on our computer desk while I'm on the DIS. Oreo the one that was neglected wasn't allow in the house no matter what. The family didn't like the cathair. He looks like a Maine Coon. He would be outside all winter. Whitney the diabetic is a long haired all white cat. Below is a picture of Dottie & Mischief shortly after we took them in. Patty :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

PATTY: Thanks for the picture.

GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe it! I am so excited!!!! WOOHOO!!!!

Okay, I am over it... (woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

A couple of things.....

THe walk around the deck was a mile walk (four times around the deck) led by Anita from the Spa. Every morning at 8:30-ish, (check your navigators) a CM leads a group in a brisk walk for a mile around Deck 4. Anita said that on the first day there were 30 or so people. Every day after that, the number dwindled until I went on Thursday and it was Anita and myself, all alone. We chatted the whole way about her life and her life on the cruise ship. I learned so much about the her and the way the cruise life worked. It was one of my very favorite times!

We used to have a mini-daschund. We had to put him down a year and a half ago. (I tell this story cause it is so funny now) Waldo was our dog we got before we got married. He was our baby till we had a baby eight years into our marriage. He was the smartest thing. He could spell. No lie. Anyway, he had lost his sense of smell and sight and became ill and aggressive, so I didn't want him to live afraid or unhappy or in pain, so we made the painful decision to have him put down. Both DH and I sobbed and sobbed. We must have spent three hours at the vet that day just preparing for the thing and because they let us stay in the room with him for a while after the thing. It was so traumatic. We were crying so hard the vet kept hugging both of us. (It still brings tears to my eyes to think about it.) We had him cremated, and when I went to pick up his remains, I still sobbed and sobbed. But it was so awful at our house without a dog that we researched and bought a new dog (a Black Lab who I think is dumb as dirt but is a real sweetheart) within a two weeks. And when we moved into our new house, (this past June) Dh asked me, "Honey, what do you want me to do with Waldo?" Sure enough. When we had him cremated, they gave him to us in a little box. So, one of the boxes we moved was sure enough, little Waldo's remains. We thought it was pretty funny in sweet, sentimetnal kind of a way.

Debby - congrats on the new job, new house, old house...we just moved this summer and it was all such a big deal.. the whole buying, selling, moving, packing, unpacking! You are doing it just the right way...vacation in the middle. That way you aren't worrying about what is not packed or unpacked...it just will all have to work out!

Way to go Dena's DS!

Smart thinking Patty..., of course, I may have to take the whole 50 days before the cruise off just to get ready!

Okay, I broke down and bought LOTR. And I am sure I wll buy the special edition in Nov. I am a sucker for it! Gross??? A little scary, even for me and I had read the books again before the movie came out....Yes, I jumped at all the parts even though I knew what would happen...

Okay...less than two months away! Got our tickets to MNSSHP Firday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!! Can hardly wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope our docs arrive soon!!!

I have a formal from last year I will take and one I bought after Christmas. My friend and I bought the same one. She wore hers on the March cruise, and I will wear mine now. It looks better on her....but no one else will know that! hehehehehhehe

Hope ya'll have a great week! I wonder if I will get the Houston Texans game on board! GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

;)

Docs....I am going to run into the office today to see if Ray and I have received ours.

I called the electric car place in Key West yesterday to reserve one but, no can do. They will come to the pier to pick us up when we arrive. That's a plus.

Boy, you all are cat people. I'm a dog person myself but we haven't had one in 5 years. The last one I had, I had to put down. It broke my heart, I still cry for him. I had him for 16 years. Well enough of that I'll be crying all day.

Off to get Ashley on that big school bus and me to the gym.

Y'all have a good day.

Hi all. I love to long on here every so often to find the many different topics you all talk about! CATS? I have 2, a male and a female (bro/sis) that are now 15 1/2 years old. They are quite healthy except for the (now almost daily...argh) pee accidents. For some reason the litter box is no longer appealing to them. It seems they like going on the linloleum in our back hallway. Better that then carpet I guess. But the SMELL...OY! I dont know what to do but keep the mop handy.

Anyway my 2 girls (11 and 9) are still debating whether they want to participate in the TorT thing. When is the latest we can let you know? Not to sound anti-social but if the kids participate do the parents too? Im just lazy and would rather be lounging by the pool.

Maureen

I'm very allergic to cats!! I think just talking about them is making me sneeze!!

We only have a guinea pig and fish.

I'm anxious for the Docs to arrive, also!!

Me Too!!! God Bless You!!!

Maureen have you tried cleaning the floor with vinegar.

People from the Oct 17th are getting their docs...we shouldn't be too far behind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO TEXANS!!!!!

God Bless You!!!!

I read that too!!!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

I just read a thread from someone who just got off Magic. He posted the movie list. Guess what all you Lord of the Ring lovers, it's playing. Also playing was Signs, Country Bears, (Estelle that should make Phil's day), Reign of Fire, Monsters Inc., Lilo & Stitch(Ashley and I have been waiting to see those two I hope their still playing when we get onboard), Spy Kids, Spy Kids 2, and The Rookie, which was playing last year.

Halloween costumes again. I am obsessed with this - as if I had nothing else to do. We've seen no mention of them changing semi-formal night due to Halloween so I'm trying to cover the bases and make sure my costume will be appropriate for either (that knocked the pirate and wench right out of the picture LOL).

Which adults *are* dressing up? I have one for sure formal dress (for Monday night), one back-up that I don't love but will wear if I can't find a good deal (probably Palo night) and then Halloween. I wanted to do a couple-theme with dh, but now that I'm thinking semi-formal that may not work. Also, I'm trying not to go too heavy due to being hot wandering around and/or partying. This is tough!

For the casual dinner night will a pair of cropped pants (tailored) with a sleeveless sweater top be ok? I have a pair that match a dress of DD's so we might do those the first night - I'm thinking this is the most casual night right? The other nights I'll do a casual dress/sun-dress, but I'd like to work those pants in a night too.

This wardrobe stuff is HARD!!!!!

DEBBY: I like the pirate theme. If you and your DH wanted to be a pirate and wench, you could wear that during the day and change to formal clothes for dinner if they have Formal night on Halloween. If they change formal night, they you can wear the costumes to dinner. What kind of costume could double for a formal dinner?

As it looks now, I will bring my short black lace dress for Semi-formal night and a long black skirt with a white lace blouse for Formal night (or vice versa). They pack well, fit well and are comfortable. Both can go with the same black sandles and jewelry, but I may vary the jewelry and I may wear one or both of them more than once each.

I was assuming we would have one dinner in Halloween costumes, one Formal, one Semi-formal, one Mexicalifragilistic in Caribbean style outfit and that leaves three for more casual clothing like a sun dress or one of the dressier ones if I feel like it. So I plan to bring the two dressier outfits and one sun dress. If people see me in the same thing more than once that is fine with me. I will vary them with jewelry just for fun.

SUZANNE & GINGER: I do not think anyone is bringing a cat, so you should be OK.

Jan :earsgirl:

The CM that I talked to said she didn't see anything about changing semi-formal night due to Halloween. She didn't seem to think that they would.

I'm still working on costumes for the family also. Trying to theme all of us together (tough to do!)

Less than 6 weeks to go!

Sue Ellen

From CAPTAIN'S BRIDGE TOURS thread comes:

These have not been reinstated as of our three-peat on the Wonder last week. At the Captain's talk, Captain John said it is constantly being re-evaluated based on the Coast Guard's assessment of risk level, so someday perhaps they will be offered again. Even if you don't get the tour, be sure to go to the bridge overlook in the spa's exercise room and you can get a good view. Barb

Did you read the thread about the cat that lives on Castaway Cay? I guess it hangs around Cookies and the kids feed it.

We will be wearing costumes on Halloween but not during dinner. Although dressing up formally will almost seem like costumes to us. Ha Ha!! Patty :earsgirl:

Patty you totally cracked me up and I agree! Typically I'm in shorts and a tshirt for meals around our house. The second I walk in from work, I strip (more info than you needed I'm sure). With the heat here, it's all I can do to make myself as cool as possible as fast as possible!

I was actually thinking of making dh dracula because he could just add a cape instead of the tuxedo jacket and some fangs and that would definitely be semi-formal. But it's hard to do a couple theme with him as dracula!

Who put the sneeze on here? How did you do that? and how come it only sneezes on this page and not any of the previous ones? When we change an Avatar, it changes all our past posts to the new one. This is fascinating. Someone is pretty darn clever!

Where is the thread about Castaway Cat??

SUE ELLEN: What about pirate costumes for the kids?

DEBBY: How about a lady in a fancy dress with her black hair with a white streak piled up high ? Or any fancy outfit would look like you are the victim if you put a couple red marks on your neck.
Could the kids be little vampires???

I wear coulottes and golf shirts all the time so I can get on the floor and move around with my little patients. Disney jewelry, sneakers and golf sox complete the ensemble. A long sleeved shirt over the top for the overly air conditioned houses in the summer and a sweatshirt in the winter and I am all set--so elegant. I am so predictable. I wear it from morning to night unless I have to change to go out fancy.

Jan :earsgirl:

Oh my goodness, God Bless you again. It's those darn Kitty Cats.

Last year they held the Adult costume parade from 10pm-11pm. I would not worry to much about dressing in costume for dinner.

I can tell just by reading your post that some of you have already over packed. I do it every time myself. Think about your vacations in the past, just how many of those clothes did you actually wear? This year I swear I'm going to pack lighter.
4 prs. shorts
1 pr. jeans
2 dress slacks
1 formal
1 semi-formal
1 jacket
5 tops
unddies
2 bathingsuits
2 cover ups
shoes and socks

Jan while you are in the exercising room looking out try running on one of the trendmills. It feels so weird, your watching the wave, the ship is moving and so are you.

6 weeks? Is that all? I know I should be really excited and everything but in the past week we've had about 8 pieces of homework plus piles of classwork, ,catching up is gonna be a nightmare. But never mind, im going on a ship for halloween.

We started this lovely song today in choir, it's called 'Angel's carol' and it's by John Rutter. It's only in 2 parts where as most of the stuff we've done has been in 3 but none the less, its gorgeous. Some of the soprano parts are really high (Im talking top Gs for al you musical people) but its not too difficult really. John Rutter writes songs with singers in mind, every phrase goes where you think it should. We did another one by him in Italy called 'The Lord Bless you and Keep you' which is on the cd so you'll be able to hear it on the ship if you want.

My DD wants to know why the computer is sneezing....I just told her that everyone on our boards is allergic to cats. She says "Bless You".
