Calling all thankgiving "Mousers"

Can anyone give me an idea what Thankgiving in Disney is like/
How busy? Where is have Thanksgiving dinner? weather/

Ist timer in November!

We love T-giving at WDW, too bad this year it is the day we fly back home - BUMMERS!

Crowds - will increase as the week goes on, but are not unbearable until Friday and Saturday - just stay out of MK those days. They will then take a dramatic drop after that Sunday.

Weather - usually dry, may get cooler in the evening low 60's for a Northerner it is short weather. You may need a light jacket or sweatshirt. Days are BEAUTIFUL - 70s are the norm. We did water parks with no problems.

Dinner - I personally love Artist Point - It is fantastic. We also did Liberty Tree Tavern. I tried to do a traditional dinner most years, but then again we had a grea T-giving meal at Chefs in EPCOT too.

The change from reagular Disney to Holiday Disney is great check out www.wdwig.com for the schedule this year. We lov eto see things change. Also be on the look out for filmings as they usually shoot the Christmas Day specials early - we have gotten to see ourselves on TV Christmas morning celebrating at Studios. That was pretty neat.

we went last Thanksgiving and didn't think it was really that crowded considering it was a major holiday. We flew down the day before from PVD, leaving in that big snowstorm!! SO, it was great to be in shorts later that day!! Temps were in the high 60's , low 70's during the day... we wore shorts ALL the time, being from Massachusetts, we wanted to take advantage of the great weather. There was only one night where I probably should have worn long pants, but I wasn't giving in.

Transportation was great, we stayed at the Polynesian, so we could walk to the TTC, took the monorail to MK & Epcot, or buses to DTD & MGM, none were jammed packed, maybe we just hit it at a good time. We didn't do any water parks, one day Blizzard Beach closed at 1:00 p.m because "it was too cold", man those people wouldn't survive up here if 60-70 is cold.

We went to California Grill for Thanksgiving Dinner... As jiminyfan said, I'd too advise you to go to Artist Point, I thnk that's a buffet, that way you'd at least get your money's worth. We paid way over $100 for 2 (my daughter & myself).. way overpriced $45 a dinner, I had water, my daughter had one soda and one glass of house champagne.

We went to MK Thanksgiving night after dinner, wasn't bad at all, saw the fireworks from Adventureland. We park hopped the whole time we were there, 1/2 day here, 1/2 day there. The only place I heard crying children was at MK... and that I blame the parents for not taking a break with the poor kids. sorry, my flame suit is on.

We left late Sunday afternoon, but went to MGM in the morning, went on TOT - 5 minute wait and RNRC -walked right in... then over to MK again... it was so strange to people getting ready for the parade and to actually see sidewalk space!

Good luck and have fun, it was just so strange to see no snow, Christmas decorations and Palm trees!!! all the resorts had their Christmas deco's up and ready...it was great!!!

I called at noon on the 120 day mark (July 30th) - Chef Mickey's was already completely booked! Wait - they did have an opening at 8:30 PM!

We're staying at the Swan and eating at Cape May. We were planning to eat at Boma but Thanksgiving at Boma is $40 per adult. Cape May is $26.99 per adult and it sounded like a better selection.

If you haven't made dinner reservations I recommend you get them ASAP.

Remember the policy changed to 90 day out PS after many people already had their Thanksgiving day PS's with the 120 day out policy. So if you had not booked last week, you have to wait a few more weeks now.

I forgot about that!

The only way I remembered was thanks to an e-mail from wdwig that mentioned it was the day to make Thanksgiving reservations! One year I waited too late - everything was booked for normal eating hours. We wound up at Artist Pointe, very late. Dinner was great though - I had steak (best steak I've ever had), DH has Thanksgiving and my kids had cheeseburgers! I used to try to get into the Liberty Tree Tavern, but it books up so quickly I've stopped trying. One year we ate at Ohana's. That was actually disappointing not nearly as good as their normal dinner - and the dessert wasn't included.

I have not yet reached my 90-day mark, but was within the 120-day time frame for booking TG dinner. I called early this week (Monday, in fact), and they allowed me to book a dinner for TG day. It would be worth a try to call and book now for TG day, even if a person is outside their 90-day mark!

How lucky for you! I bet some CMs are aware of the new policy and others aren't. My guess is there hasn't been a software change to prevent the PS from being made.

Where are you eating?? We're eating at Cape May since it has a buffet. My kids aren't crazy about traditional T-giving dinner (they'll eat a little turkey and the rolls) so I was looking for a kids buffet - pizza, nuggets, mac-n-cheese, etc. There will be traditional fair, plus prime rib and seafood - sounds good to me!

Hi Cape Cod Mom!

I'm a Cape Cod Mom too and was also thinking about going during Thanksgiving.

However, after I read 'The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World' which described how the crowds increased drastically I decided to take my kids out of school in the beginning of November.

I figured they could have the Thanksgiving break to catch up on their missed school work.

Next time, I'll book the first week of December.

Anyway, since you're already going, I'd really suggest that book. If you haven't read it already, it has coping stratedgies for the crowds and other great stuff.

And it's available at most of the Cape's libraries. Just go to www.clamsnet.org and you can have it sent to your town from any of the cape libraries. Mine's due back soon anyway. (Try to get the latest copy)

Yes, unfortunately heavy crowds have been our experience in the past - mainly Thansgiving day. I remember one year we ate, took the monorail to the MK, got off the train - saw the long line to get in the park! We turned around and got back on the monrail!

The good news is we went to MK the next day and the crowds weren't too bad.

I just made Thanksgiving Dinner reservations today. Everything is filling up. We ended up with a 7:50 PS at Jiko. Most of the other places were booked until after 9 pm!

This year's trip will be our second Thanksgiving trip!! We're coming up for the week before and leaving the Saturday after. So we'll do our park touring the days before Thanksgiving and avoid most of the heavy crowds. Last time, we spent Thanksgiving Day at Animal Kingdom and it was really empty!

We've already made Thanksgiving dinner ressies at Le Cellier this year since we're planning to spend that day in Epcot.

We go every year. In addition to all the comments above, let me add that BB will be open (TL will likely be closed).

The weather is still pretty good for a water park day. Maybe the locals find it too cold, but I recall last year it was in the 70's, the year before in the 80's...A beautiful sunny day, and the BB crowds were very light. If you want to have some fun in the sun, and avoid the TG crowds, BB definately the place to be!
